NFL Discussion v60: Contract Raping Edition

It will take him 500 to get to 1000 yards

Coach didn't even say Trent was the primary back.

Bradshaw will outshine him.

As a Titans fan I kinda hope that Jake Locker gets hurt this season. Terrible I know but....

(1) They aren't gonna do anything besides be in the running for a Wild Card best case scenario.

(2) I don't want to see Jake Locker have an average season and then get a 6-year $70-80 million contract. Only to get injured the next season.

(3) Get a really good draft pick for a change. The Titans are the master of the 7-9 or 8-8 season which earns them nothing but picks 12-20 in the draft.

(4) It serves them right for bringing in god awful Charlie Whitehurst as a backup to the most injury prone starting quarterback in the league. Its almost like they were thinking hey if Locker gets hurt we are screwed anyways so.... (I know they brought Whitehurst in because his experience in the offense just saying)

(5) This team is a quarterback away from being legit playoff contenders. They have solid weapons in the receiving game in Wright, Hunter and Delanie Walker. They have what should be one of the better offensive lines in the league. The defense improved a ton last season and was in the top half of the league.

You never know, Mettenberger may come up.

Has anyone found footage of the Tretter vs. Robinson fight at Packers camp?

Also, apparently there is some encouraging young linebacker play for us. Supposedly Lattimore has stepped up and rookies Joe Thomas and Jayrone Elliott are putting on a show.

I cant find a video to save my life but it was pretty good. The blindside was awesome. Love when the defense and offense fight its like the bloods vs djax and his boys.

Agreed. Kendall Wright put up Pro Bowl numbers his 2nd year in the league on a team with a terrible Quarterback situation. Like you said there is all kinds of buzz on Justin Hunter as well.

I don't know how to feel about Locker. On one hand, he's shown really good potential. However, after years of defending him, I finally gave up after his last injury. He should have to prove everything now. Nothing handed to him. The injury prone label is 100% accurate in his case. I have to pull for him or else it'll be yet ANOTHER lost season, but I don't have hope he'll work out. And God forbid Clipboard Jesus has to play. Just see what Methnburger has instead.

Our defense is going to be lightyears better now that Jerry fucking Gray isn't putting the cornerbacks seven yards off the line of scrimmage every play. That shit got on my nerves. In fact, it's a miracle that we went 7-9 last year. Not only a tough schedule (especially right out of the gate), we had probably the worst coaching staff in the league. Our head coach had never called a play at any level in his career. Both our offensive and defensive coordinators would not adjust in game. Even the positional coaches were bad with a few exceptions.

Going from Jerry Gray to Ray Horton (who should have a head coaching gig) is like going from Roseanne to Jessica Biel. I can't wait to see our defense under Horton. He will actually adjust and create schemes that will fit our players on the field. And hopefully we'll get to see more of Karl Klug, who has been criminally underutilized his whole career.

But nothing matters unless Jake Locker stops getting injured. If Locker stays healthy and performs well, this division is ripe for the taking. Worst division in the NFL. It would be really nice to get back to the playoffs for a change and STOP FINISHING 8-8. UGH!!!!!!!

Oh, and thank God MeJ2K is no longer our problem.

didnt see it but they had a blocking drill and Tretter hit him first and then Lang came in and started fighting Robinson lol.

Ive heard a lot of good things about Elliott, apparently hes been vastly outplaying Hubbard who came in with some hype before camp, particularly in pass rushing. Preseason games cant come soon enough. Good to hear about Lattimore as well, would like to see him get some PT because he did alright last year and another season of Hawk/Jones is just bleh.

TRich gonna set rushing records this season.

Fumbles

Why do we have to be so fucking deep at OLB and so thin at ILB?

Apparently this Elliott fellow is just besmirching everyone, but we already have Pepp, Matthews, Neal, Perry, Bradford, and (assuming he makes the cut) Hubbard. Bradford is the only one of the bunch that seems could translate to ILB and the coaching staff has repeatedly said they are keeping him at OLB. Also, sounds like Perry, coming off the injured list, is still pretty unimpressive.

Also, Tretter needs to watch himself. He's already on many fan's bad side by virtue of replacing EDS. And he's had a shit camp so far.

Here ya go.

now that the deals have been released, I can say I'm pretty happy with the dalton contract.

You guys talk like the team would of finished with the same record if they drafted these different player and then drafted the same players the following draft.

If Oakland drafted Rodgers, in 2 years, I don't think they'd have a shot at Calvin because Rodgers would of made them better.

I agree but Raiders would have had Rodgers and Fitz. Hnnnng

It isnt bad at all. 16 mil for, at worst, an average QB isnt anything to complain about.

Well done for Cinci. Cant wait to see what AJ gets.

Dumb ass.

Bennett was also pretty flippant yesterday about the possibility of a fine yesterday. Said he could afford it. Bears took him up on it

Fight fallout... RT @mikecwright: Phil Emery says Martellus Bennett us absent today because he's been fined and suspended undetermined time.

i bet martellus bennet could be teh UFC LHW champ with a year of training

Who did the Titans replace Verner with? Seems like a big blow, he was one of the more underrated players in the league last year.
