mark davis used Sheldon Adelsons power to push the stadium deal through Nevadas political hurdles, which were many, and then tried to back bite him and cut him out of the deal, either because they never wanted him in or Goodell told them to get rid of him
Now hes pissed at the Raiders for not only trying to dirty deal him but also for helping the convention center people who are Adelsons sworn enemy
Now mark davis has everyone that pushed this deal through from Adelson and the governor of Nevada to UNLV and the Vegas city bureaucrats feeling very angry and embarrassed right now which isnt a good look

I love this narrative that Boston is a "real" sports town compared to Atlanta even though the Patriots had one of the longest blackout streaks in NFL history before they were good.

I lived in Boston the year the Pats won their first title. If I'm being honest, I rooted for that team because the Ravens weren't in it, I was living there and it was a feel good story with Bledsoe going down and Brady turning the team around while Terry Glen held out like a bitch. Troy Brown should have been SB MVP btw. Anyways, the point is, the Pats were clearly fourth in that town. It was Red Sox, then Celts or Bruins depending which sport you cared more about and then the Pats. They got excited for that team, but it was obvious as hell that any other team winning would have been a bigger deal. It's not a football town. When they stop winning, the city will go back to not caring. Honestly, I think the hatred the Pats get nationally is the main thing keeping interest alive now.

They got excited for that team, but it was obvious as hell that any other team winning would have been a bigger deal. It's not a football town. When they stop winning, the city will go back to not caring. Honestly, I think the hatred the Pats get nationally is the main thing keeping interest alive now.

That first SB was a way bigger deal then the Bruins or Celtics next Championships, maybe you weren't in the city to see those. I think the amount of success they've had will carry them through the post Belichick years though and they will be the #2 team in town no matter what, unless they turn into the Browns which i don't see happening. Its hard to say when Brady falls off, or what they do with Jimmy but I could see Belichick coaching 7-8 more years. Don't see them falling off a cliff any time soon and then by that time you're talking about "i remember 25 years ago when nobody cared".

The Celtics and Bruins may have been bigger then the Pats, but i don't see that ever being the case again if all teams are equally successful. The Pats started this whole new era of Boston sports Championships and yea i really don't see them becoming irrelevant again unless they turn into the Browns or Jaguars or something like that.

I can understand why the NFL wouldn't want a casino owner involved in ownership of a team but the way it was done was certain to piss him off. That probably wasn't wise to piss off someone like Adelson, especially if he has a stake in the firm you plan to get a loan from. When stock prices started dropping Monday, if Adelson has enough stock, he could put it on the market and further drop the price.
