NFL Discussion: Draft Day 2 "Your can team still sucks"

He completely denies it, and multiple teams said injuries werent a concern AND the Cowboys did another medical check on him yesterday morning before drafting him...I think it's ok.

I also think Aikman hit it on the head "Josh Allen was not an accurate QB in college, and from my experience...that's not something that players get better at in the pro's so it's going to be a struggle for him"

It's funny, your love for Allen while completely hating Paxton Lynch. I mean, at least I was a Memphis homer and that's why I liked Lynch.

I mean, pitchers who can't throw strikes don't all of a sudden control the strike zone going from college to pros. Allen struggle to complete half of his passes in junior college. Manlet Mayfield completed 64% of his throws as a fucking walk on freshman, and then spent 3 years completing 70% of his throws.

Allen's two seasons against lesser comp had him completing 56% in each year. 50% in Junior College, and then 56% percent for two seasons at Wyoming. Is that fixable with NFL coaching? Or is NFL defensive talent going to make it worse?

I mean, holy shit at the difference between 70% and 56% percent. Darnold was around 65% between his last two years, and Rosen hovered around 61%.

I just wouldn't trust anyone who wasn't >60% in college. I mean, Cam Newton is the biggest freak athlete in the NFL and he completes 59% of his throws in the NFL. Allen might be Jay Cutler 2.0.......... I would have gambled with Rosen.

(I can't wait until Rosen is out with concussion protocol within his first few games so I feel retarded)

Not sure how to feel about Ozzie's last draft so far (though I imagine DeCosta had even more to do with these picks, especially Lamar, than ever before). Got a playmaking TE in Hurst, but he's older, so not as much room for improvement. But that's need plus the top-rated TE, so can't complain (especially since they added 3rd and 4th round picks trading back to that point in the 1st round). Should work out. Seems like injury is the only way he'll be a bust.

Lamar. I admit watching very little CFB, but even I've seen his highlight reels. Dude is talented as fuck. Just worry about making him QB of the future with his level of accuracy and potential for injury. Maybe it's time to make Flacco run the wildcat for real and not just stand on the LOS, waiting for it to fail. Plus they gave up this year's 2nd pick, next year's 2nd pick, and a late round pick this season. As amazing as his upside is, I just think it's a huge gamble, especially when the Ravens really need help on the line on offense and defense. And since I think the Ravens are going to be bad this year, I'd have probably waited on a QB to see what you can get with a top pick next year. Hopefully I'm worried for nothing and he has an amazing career.

Witten can still move the chains, but his numbers have been coming down for a few years now. Not shocked he decided it wasn't worth going through another season. He's had a great TE career. Glad he was never in the Ravens' division. Lol.

I'll be interested to see Witten in the booth. Hopefully, he is more Tony Romo than Rex Ryan.

In a matter of a year the Cowboys lose:

All-Time Passing Leader
All-Time TD Receptions Leader
All-Time Catches and Receiving Yards Leader

As much as I love Jason Witten, he never struck me as a booth guy. I suppose we will see if he's any good at it

I was open-minded about Romo going into last year. Could see that going either way.

...but I thought Rex Ryan was going to be a slam dunk. Completely whiffed on that.

Im sure you can cultivate the craft over time but it seems like you jave to have a base level of competency and Ryan has all the grace of Shockmaster on the microphone.

I didn't get a great look at him last night, but from what I saw it looked like he magically grew some new hair on the top of his head.

You know who really "won" the draft? The fucking 9ers landed a franchise QB for a 2nd round pick. Jimmy G is locked up forever and is going to tear it up for years to come.

He is a winner. His personality and attitude are off the charts awesome. He learned from the GOAT. He will be better than every QB drafted this year.

Really hoping Hurst drops to the Chargers today.
