If you think giving Pickett another year means Tomlin is on thin ice, there is a massive fucking rift between Pickett being a good QB and Tomlin being a Pickett level coach lolBye Tomlin
And everyone will continue to praise Tomlin as if any of his teams have done fuck all in the past decade. People make excuses for Tomlin more than any other coach in the league. It's like people grade him on some jacked up curve.Another 8-9 or 9-8 season looming

They’re in a pickle that’s for sure. They have such a good defense, that they should be contending. I would’ve loved Russ on like a 1 or 2 year deal. Same with Kirk.I think sticking with Tomlin and Pickett is reasonable. Pickett is still on his baby contract. If the offense spends a bunch of the season looking like shit though, I think you'll finally see the push to move on from Tomlin from the masses. We all doubted the Arthur Smith hiring, and it might turn out pretty good, but if it doesn't it really should point to some inherent inability to evaluate coordinators. It's been like a decade since we had one that even decent, that's not just random chance.
Kirk yes, I dunno if we could made Russ work at this stage of his career. I think they need to see this year what Pickett is. I think he isn't the guy, but other than the tiny hands jokes it's hard to really have a read on him. Worst case scenario is another .500ish season. Shame we're probably gonna just miss out on Kool-Aid.They’re in a pickle that’s for sure. They have such a good defense, that they should be contending. Pickett is atrocious considering this FA and draft class.I think sticking with Tomlin and Pickett is reasonable. Pickett is still on his baby contract. If they think they can contend now (which they can't despite them probably thinking that) then they should get one of the veteran free agency QBs. If not, then they should burn it down and start a true rebuild. I would start to take offers for Watt if that's the case too. He's got maybe 2-3 years left of his prime, the Steelers aren't winning anything in 2-3 years. Unless he wants to end up with even worse playoff success than his brother he should want that too.Pickett is atrocious considering this FA and draft class.
Steelers should throw the bag at either Cousins or Wilson. Either of those guys makes them serious contenders with just even slightly better QB play.
How is it that they cant exactly? 10 win Playoff team with some of the absolute worst QB play in the entire league. If they think they can contend now (which they can't despite them probably thinking that) then they should get one of the veteran free agency QBs. I dont think they have the talent up front to win, but to think they can't be a top 6 team in the AFC consistently with better QB play is insanity. How is it that they cant exactly? 10 win Playoff team with some of the absolute worst QB play in the entire league.
Lets just say it was Cousins, Id pretty easily pencil them in to being at or very near the AFC Ship.I dont think they have the talent up front to win, but to think they can't be a top 6 team in the AFC consistently with better QB play is insanity.
