Bye Tomlin
If you think giving Pickett another year means Tomlin is on thin ice, there is a massive fucking rift between Pickett being a good QB and Tomlin being a Pickett level coach lol

Another 8-9 or 9-8 season looming
And everyone will continue to praise Tomlin as if any of his teams have done fuck all in the past decade. People make excuses for Tomlin more than any other coach in the league. It's like people grade him on some jacked up curve.

The Doc Rivers of the NFL

Well it is a mighty coincidence they both won titles in 2008 and were runner ups in 2010.

Tomlin is a MUCH better coach in football than Rivers is in basketball though. Bill Cowher was overrated too. Its just a Steelers thing they're like the Cowboys whatever they have is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I think sticking with Tomlin and Pickett is reasonable. Pickett is still on his baby contract. If the offense spends a bunch of the season looking like shit though, I think you'll finally see the push to move on from Tomlin from the masses. We all doubted the Arthur Smith hiring, and it might turn out pretty good, but if it doesn't it really should point to some inherent inability to evaluate coordinators. It's been like a decade since we had one that even decent, that's not just random chance.

They’re in a pickle that’s for sure. They have such a good defense, that they should be contending. I would’ve loved Russ on like a 1 or 2 year deal. Same with Kirk.

Kirk yes, I dunno if we could made Russ work at this stage of his career. I think they need to see this year what Pickett is. I think he isn't the guy, but other than the tiny hands jokes it's hard to really have a read on him. Worst case scenario is another .500ish season. Shame we're probably gonna just miss out on Kool-Aid.

Pickett is atrocious considering this FA and draft class.

Steelers should throw the bag at either Cousins or Wilson. Either of those guys makes them serious contenders with just even slightly better QB play.

If they think they can contend now (which they can't despite them probably thinking that) then they should get one of the veteran free agency QBs. If not, then they should burn it down and start a true rebuild. I would start to take offers for Watt if that's the case too. He's got maybe 2-3 years left of his prime, the Steelers aren't winning anything in 2-3 years. Unless he wants to end up with even worse playoff success than his brother he should want that too.

How is it that they cant exactly? 10 win Playoff team with some of the absolute worst QB play in the entire league.

I dont think they have the talent up front to win, but to think they can't be a top 6 team in the AFC consistently with better QB play is insanity.

Lets just say it was Cousins, Id pretty easily pencil them in to being at or very near the AFC Ship.

Cousins to the Failcans looms. His wife is from here and he'd still get to play inside at least 9 games a year. My boy Pitts gonna carry him to a 5k yard 50 TD season.

If the Steelers got Kirk I'd be pretty stoked, I just never expect them to make a splash in FA. Would probably also require them to move someone on D.
