It's about the end result. Inflate with whatever temperature you want. But if the footballs end up below the legal range then you're now breaking the rules.

It is scientifically indisputable that if you inflate a ball in a 75 degree room and measure it to 12.5... when you expose the ball to lower atmospheric pressure, it will register below 12.5 PSI. This is a central problem to the way the NFL wrote the rule - it does not have provision for temperature discrepancies between inside and outside.

If Aaron Rogers is inside with his equipment manager and they are inflating the footballs to an illegal level of 14.5 (again - inside). When they take them out into frigid cold, Lambeau temperatures the balls will lose measurable PSI - guaranteed.

To lose that much pressure they would have had to have been inflated with 125 degree air.

Do whatever you need to do to convince yourself otherwise.
