Social New York Opening a $65 Million Dollar Homeless Shelter for Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming People

Public services to help some of the most desperate people in society make their way back to being self sufficient? How dare they! Round them up, treat them like vermin, and send them all off to re-education camps!

That's how Dems will turn around their historically-low approval ratings: by focussing on the things that really matter. ;)

Im fine with it. Get them off the streets. These folks are wild in the subways and on the streets at night. The big ones looking for fights all the time lol. Ask any native New Yorker, these Juwana Man looking trans start shit constantly. Now they can get mental help.

We are going to need many facilities like this in the future, once these kids transitioning today at a young age grow up there will be a large percentage of whom either regret the transition or were rushed into botched procedures. There will be a whole new demographic of broken people that society will need to take care off after pushing transgenderism on them in the first place.
- You're actualy right.

By spending $65 million to help 150 people? lol...

And the most desparate? Most attention seeking that's for sure. There's far more people with much more severe mental issues than transgenders.

What's the gripe? That they're addressing the issue.

Some people are going to be miserable no matter what is being done about a problem. Because they don't really care about solving the problem, they're just emotionally invested in bitching about shit.

$65 million over 5 years. So $13 million a year. I suspect people have no idea what it costs to actually run things so every big number sounds astronomical to them.

Construction and labor are the major costs for any project. Here, they're building a separate facility plus staffing costs. But given the bitching that people have whenever transgender people want to spend time in the spaces for the gender they're transitioning to and/or the violence that is visited upon them, a separate facility is the best option.

What exactly do people want instead? Put men transitioning into women into female homeless shelters so they can bitch if something negative happens? Or put them into male homeless shelters where they're targeted for violence? Or leave them on the street so people can bitch if something negative happens on the street?

People have to be realistic about what it costs to solve the problems in front of them. NYC doesn't need a separate transgender shelter if they could just put people in the shelters that the individuals identified with.

ok... $13 million per year for 150 people.

Got it

It's 150 beds. Do you think the beds are going to be used one time by one person and then the beds get tossed? Let's say a hospital has 1000 beds. Do you think that hospital will only treat 1000 people? Think, bud.

That's only $86,000 per year per person.

You're ignoring how this also factors in construction, and you're ignoring that it's not going to be the same 150 people for the entire year and people will rotate in and out.

So if a a straight person who doesn't identify with any other gender except exactly what they are tries to go here, they will be turned away?

It's funny. The left insists they aren't mentally ill, but this is catering to them because they are mentally ill. The right says they are mentally ill, but are going to complain about and make fun of this anyway.

There really is no winning with anyone. The lot of the country is made up of complete retards.

Good question. I doubt they would, at least until they can find another place for them.

That's not the point is it? They'd prefer to round them all up and exterminate them. Trying to HELP people is not really on brand for the Repugnantcan folks.
Of course this is what many of them want. That's why nobody is touching my comment. They would have to admit what they don't want to say out loud.

I mean if you're going to be intentionally obtuse, this is a good way to play it.

Build out of a new facility. The actual operation cost is going to be significantly less. But the 5 year cost is construction, labor, plus whatever other tax revenue the city is foregoing since this is a government building, not a private one. So they're either foregoing tax revenue or paying rent to some landholder.

Like I said -- people clearly don't understand what it takes to build out and run a facility if they're going to fixate on the top line number and refuse to look at where those numbers come from. Or they don't care and just want to complain about everything. Because some of them, and I suspect that includes you, would also be screaming bloody murder if they put them into a facility with single women. You're not serious people.

What's your solution for the homelessness issue cities and towns across the country face, genius?
