This is obviously going to be incredibly unpopular, but I can see some compelling arguments for doing it beyond the humanitarian, which I'm sure for a lot of people isn't even a consideration.

You're talking about a segment of the population that's vital to the economy. Many of them keep their heads down and work jobs nobody else wants to, stimulating local economies and paying substantial sales tax dollars while collecting absolutely no benefits.

From a safety perspective you have people who aren't going to leave and are going to have to live, which leaves crime as the only alternative if their income vanishes and isn't replaced.

It's easy to say "they can just get the hell out then" but realistically, is that really going to happen? Some might but I imagine there will be those staying and doing whatever they have to do to feed their families.

This might turn out to be a smart play for the country but for SURE it's political death, so Republicans should be dancing in the streets and breaking out the champagne. There's no way to sell this to the public; Democrats are going to get creamed in the midterms.

Not at all. You're acting like every citizen got more than that, when they didn't. Not to mention that every citizen should be mad that illegals are gonna get up to $15,000 right now, when legal citizens are getting less and less.

You're doing your whole "blot out the sun" routine(because you know the core issue is indefensible), as if people give a shit about the nuance about the amount of free money "illegal immigrants" are gonna get, while legal citizens continue struggle as their government tells them it's too hard to help them all. Meanwhile, people who shouldn't even be in the country are getting $15,000.

I'm acting like the truth is what the truth is. Unauthorized immigrants didn't get the benefits that citizens do and many have suffered also. So NY is making some portion of the benefits available to them. Some people are mad about that, which is whatever, but the claim that they're getting *more* than citizens is false.

I don't imagine you can relate, but my interest here was pointing out a factual inaccuracy, which I think people should oppose regardless of their positions on issues (so no question is uncomfortable to me). Whether one supports or opposes the policy, they should agree to tell the truth about it.
