New job is kicking my a**

It's not her job to train me though. This is a management position and I'm taking over a new department. She was just nice enough to go over the specific procedures with me but it's way more complex than I expected.

You used the word "humbling" and that's exactly it.

I think maybe I did such a good job of selling myself in the interview, that my boss thought I'd just be able to catch on super quick.

Oh management..? Sheeeit..

Documentation documentation documentation. Its always the thing people slack on
After going throught the responses, this is definitely going to aid you TS. Keeping a journal / proper documentation is a great way to make sure you can review everything and reduce the amount of redundancy in your day to day.

If it's a management position, and a new department to boot, you should be able to structure to your whim. You are a manager. Quit asking, start telling. If you know how your performance is measured, just set yourself up to win.

I'm on day 9 and I'm getting vibes that feel like they don't think I'm learning fast enough.

The lady that's helping to show me the ropes is nice to me but I can tell she doesn't like repeating herself. Every time I ask a question, she starts her answer with, "like I said earlier..."

I still don't understand most of what's going on though. I might be fucked if I can't start learning faster.

What do, bros?
Women are funny like that. When you explain shit in detail to help train them, they call it mansplaining and act annoyed

Then they fuck up something you were trying to teach because they didn't focus on learning and say they weren't taught properly by you when asked why they messed up lol

Come in early TS. Leave late. Do your homework. Take notes. The job market is garbage. Do not get fired. Go hard. If the role isn’t right for you, exit but acquire new employment.

After the 5 years absolute fuck shit, everyone should have a side hustle, a recruiter, and always be sourcing new opportunities.

Men are refusing to mentor women to avoid false accusations or something career ending.

If you just started a new job and still in first 2 weeks you feel lost an or overwhelmed as you dont really get it. You likely bit off more thsn you can chew , or you're in you're own head thinking you need to be a star day 1 and everyone has you under a microscope.

Do think about it - are you reslly just lost and overwhelmed? If so start aplying elsewhere if you're just in you're own head buckle up buttercup it will pass.

I'm 90% sure I can, once I understand more
If you're 90% sure, you're sure.

I know it's hard to relax when you feel like the pressure's on, but I doubt you would have applied for a job you couldn't do. I mean, if you did, you're a dumb-ass but...you didn't come here and tell us you're in over your head, just that it's kicking your ass. Congrats Sherbro. If you were in your last position for a while, it isn't just learning the requirements and policies and procedures. Sometimes you have to re-train yourself.

My last job I was doing something completely different than I’ve done before. They turned me loose on the job floor after one day of training. Some people just don’t care and don’t wanna deal with training people in new situations. I understand people retain knowledge differently than others, but others don’t seem to understand. Some people can thrive better at jobs if they would just give them more time. Anyway, I left the job after two days. I just couldn’t see myself in that kind of environment.

Is this a remote job? If so, record the calls for review later.

Thank God I don't get challenged at work. F 'development' and yay comfort zone!

If you're a manager and you have no idea what you're doing then in my experience you're doing your job properly.
Exactly, like the old joke goes, FAIL UPWARDS. Most management don't know fuck all so it's all good.
