New job is kicking my a**

The learning curve in my profession is several months, if not years. I literally loled at 9 days as that's barely enough to understand the broad concept of what we do. My guess is that she's bitchy because her job doesn't really give enough time to train so she's probably getting backed up on work. Training people sucks and many professions are far more complex than setting up an instruction manual. You need to understand why you are doing things in order to problem solve.

A couple years ago I started a.new job and the trainer guy was some old dude. He was just up my ass from day one. Would freak out over the tiniest error or miscommunication.

I got through almost two weeks before he pissed me off so bad I just went to my lead and said this isnt gonna work here's all my training materials bye.

Don't regret it at all. Felt like a dumb decision to make at the time financially but life's too short to stay at a place where I'm unhappy like that from day one. Ended up going somewhere with better money and benefits not long after anyway.

Tough spot TS. You need to find the right balance between asking questions and pretending that you understand. Because learning a new job is always a blend of both and you need to figure out the appropriate mix.

I think there is more danger in pretending than asking though as a general rule. So in doubt, kindly ask her to stop with new info and invest time in getting the basics right before moving on to the next.

There is also the very important notion that some stuff start making sense when put in a context, so that you need to know or feel rather, when not to block the mentoring and let it flow.

In the end the goodwill of the person teaching you plays a big role. Personally, I am very generous and laid back when training someone and I have certainly saved some people from getting fired. You are at the mercy of the person training you that‘s for sure. In your case that person sounds cunty, which sucks. What kind of job is it?

As others have said, take some notes. I don't mind training people in general, but if I'm going over a ton of stuff and they are just sitting there watching or not taking notes I get a bit annoyed.

It's better to say "could you wait while I take notes of this?" rather than not say anything and have to constantly ask later to go over the same things you've already done.

Also they should know you aren't going to get everything immediatley, but like I said earlier (see what I did there? ;) ) take notes and use them. I don't mind going over the same thing with someone later if they took notes and need clarification.
I suppose it all depends on the job but when I've taught people the simplest shit they'd fuck up because they just don't give a fuck. No one can change that but the person themselves. Then, of course, when you point things out you're an asshole.

If they hired a fuckup that's pretty much hr or management to blame. Bad hires sink businesses.

Anyone who expects someone to pick everything up in a week or two, and acts irritated when it doesn't happen, is a real cunt. Male or female.
All depends on the job, no one is getting rocket science down in a couple weeks but each party should have checked all that beforehand. Problem is people lie about what they're capable of and some are really good at it but in many cases the truth comes out. The scammers and the deadweight employees have created the need for HR. Too many useless people out there.

First thing... file a sexual harassment lawsuit.

Then if they fire you claim it was retaliatory

2nd thing... oh wait...

First thing... figure out a good mark to accuse of sexual harassment.

Take a 100mg viagra and wear gray sweatpants to work.

She will be your best friend after that.

Trust and believe.

I wouldn't expect them to pick up everything. But I would expect them to pick up some things and continually add to it.

Don't stress. Just continue putting in the work best you can and let the cards fall where they may.

I felt the same for the last 3.5 years.... Though if you keep on going, you just might last long enough to gather the skills and resourcefulness needed for the role. Fake it till you make it and all that.

The last manager I hired was maybe 18 months ago. Smart guy, Michigan State undergrad in supply chain, Loyola MBA. I gave him 3 months training with the person that was retiring that he was replacing. It still took about a year after that until he really turned the corner and started to really perform at the level I was hoping for.

You are at day 9, lol?

If you like the job just keep your head down and eventually it will be old hat.

I'm on day 9 and I'm getting vibes that feel like they don't think I'm learning fast enough.

The lady that's helping to show me the ropes is nice to me but I can tell she doesn't like repeating herself. Every time I ask a question, she starts her answer with, "like I said earlier..."

I still don't understand most of what's going on though. I might be fucked if I can't start learning faster.

What do, bros?

What is the job..?
