New Japanese fighting event "Ganryujima"

I just watched a Ganryujima event on youtube. It was really interesting. Especially a fight between... a Brazilian guy? in a green kurtka... and a sumo guy in a red kurtka. it seemed to be Capoeira/BJJ vs Sumo and at one point the smaller Brazilian ran around the sumo and tried to dump him over the side of the ring with blistering speed, but you don't move a sumo if he doesn't want to be moved. Except then the Brazilian missed a cartwheel kick and threw him out of the ring with his legs. So weird. So awesome.

Also sumo tried to throw Brazilian out of ring when he pulled guard. he carried him to the edge, but couldn't shake him off.

no not even in japan it was gonna air live but now its gonna be on a delayed broadcast

tickets are going for way higher than face value on online auctions

I love the mat/mist moat.

At first I was on the fence about the rule-set but the fact that you can't tie people up on the cage/ropes is what causes the frequent action, you have to keep moving or attacking, there's no time to rest or think. It ruined the Minowa fight at their first event but it made Lelo vs. the Sumo guy a lot more interesting. I'm glad they tweeked the rules so you have to literally throw your opponent out for it to count, hopefully that causes a best-of-both worlds scenario.
 
i didnt catch the first half but new age rings legend vitali klatt beat jz

i saw him just wretk watanabe with some body shots
 
Vitali dropped JZ three times in about 20 seconds before the ref stepped in and saved him. I hope he fights Dues at the next event, if there is one.

Watanabe's fights were great as usual.

What was that old guy thinking?

It wasn't as good as the first one but it was still entertaining, I'd prefer a bigger tournament. The new rule tweeks slowed down the action this time.
 
WOW, nice. Any chance that this ever gets released on DVD with English (late dub) commentary?

Unfortunately, Not every fight has been uploaded yet plus I haven't found a torrent file for it yet (Not that I would ever commit such an atrocity, piracy is stealing!!).
