Some people like extra buttons. The MMO mice implement them because of the insane number of hotkeys those games can demand, especially outside of more streamlined arena play.dont care about his criteria, makalu 67 is GOATed at this point
All these "features" that don't matter on modern mice. It's like those dorky ass MMO mice. More buttons =/= more good.
I can't take anyone seriously if we're talking about gaming and mice and need more than what the Makalu 67 gives. Logitech/Razer are using the same sensors and switches and giving them unique chassis and charging a premium for them.
Generally, I agree with you, Logitech and Razer get away with overcharging, when frankly the one major advantage they should have over all competitors given their enormous financial resources isn't nearly as great as it could be, and that's the software support, but otherwise, the trend in contemporary mice hasn't been for more "features" at all. The trend has been all about making the mice lighter at all costs. Most of the flagship mice have 5 buttons because of this, or 6 at most (i.e. Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2, Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro, Zowie ECx-CW series, etc). That's why you got so many of the Finalmouse snobs in the past five years.
This is hands down the most popular mouse in competitive gaming atm:
