Media New Cain Velasquez weight lifting video

LOL

Is this like a modified deadlift to shrug exercise? For a sec there I thought he was going to power clean it.

Damn dude the last thing Cain needs are all these erratic jerking movements.

Looks like he's trying to do clean pulls, and yes his technique stinks.

Love these "MMA guy is reckless in training" threads, they're kind of a sherdog staple that are shit tons of light hearted fun. Thanks @Verace

yeah well if your going to be a smug know it all, at least be a right smug know it all. If you think that dead lift into a shrug isnt just plain shit then perhaps you should STFU and learn some more before commenting.

So does he just not have a strength coach or exercise physiologist to work with???

UNNNNHHHHHHH.

Damn, why cain can be so stubborn by doing those workouts without fixing his knee.

Holy shit sherdog is full of non athletes that wasn’t bad at all lol for fuck sake
{<jordan}

ONLY an Affliction shirt does that kind of form justice. Also:

form over function bro. first rule of heavy lifting.

Obviously none of my sherbros lifted a broom lol 245 pd shrugs for a heavy weight is kid stuff. I power lifted when I was a kid and. These would be warmups. Sshhhisshhh and I was a man let according to the sherbros giants lol

He isn't really an mma fighter at this point. Hes a wrestler. El puto I believe. He wont fight in the ufc again, hes probably making more money doing fake moves now. His fake strikes etc looked really horrible in that one video. I couldn't believe he was jumping off the top rope etc in the first wrestling matches he had. That's way more likely to cause injury to his glass knees than his jerky weight lifting style.

I'm trying to think what he is doing. I've lifted for a while and done a bit of Olympic style lifting, seems like a drill to prep for a full snatch, to activate your traps and gain explosiveness.

Anyone who has done snatch for a while should know the phases of it, but we always pretty much just did the warm up suuuuuuper light, like 30kg max with perfect form, then into the sets....

Anyone share any info? Maybe CNS activation?

How is everyone here 6'3 ripped 280lbs? surely share some insight?;P

I see this very often in olympic lifting classes it's sometimes called a power shrug/clean pull t,he shrug is emphasised a lot in olympic lifting and this is a drill to build strength in that area. He hasn't got good technique but he may be new to oly lifting.

Dude either shrug or deadlift what in the actual fukkkk is that

I'm no expert but that looks like a sure-fire way to injure yourself to me.

Would never in my life dead lift like that lmao.

What the hell is that? Looks like the top half of Michelin man.

Lmfao dead

A hybrid deadlift shrug with a little touch of bent back snap action. Fair play

Well the stats are in -
At the time of writing there were 38 posters itt that made posts that were determined to be relevant to the OP.
6 of them made posts that showed they 100% know what they are talking about.
8 of them made posts that were approx 50% correct for an aggregate total of 4.
This means that essentially 26% of the posters itt (10/38) offered an intelligent response to the OP. This may be a record for a Sherdog thread on the subject of weightlifting, S and C or Steroids.
Unfortunately the other 74% will, if history is any indication, continue shouting their ignorant and ill formed thoughts from the rooftops much to the dismay of people who have an IQ above 100 as well as those in the low IQ category who have managed to figure out that keeping your mouth shut when you have no fucking clue may be the proper response.
Congrats?
