Yes, he seems to be lifting for strength/explosiveness, but does he really need any more of them for his new career? Cain is quick and athletic as is, he can do the stunts needed in WWE. What he needs to be successful is the looks. He needs more bodybuilder-y types of exercises (or, to to be more precise, more bodybuilder-y execution) - slower, with cleaner technique and no cheating. Not to mention Cain, being so injury prone, is just inviting trouble with that kind of training...

P.S. Of course with Cain is mostly genetics, no matter what he does in the gym he needs a lot of USADA-forbidden pills to make the difference.

I know his form was bad, but I warm up with deadlifts sometimes and do a clean at the end

It really gets your fast twitch fibres firing

If you're doing deadlifts and shrugs you're either deadlifting too little or shrugging too much.
It's called the clean pull and it's a staple of weightlifting.

He's using a hell of a lot more weight than Cain is but this is essentially what Cain was trying to do.

So many armchair lifters ITT lmao. The clean pull is a hell of a lot safer than power cleans and it's one of the lowest skill explosive lifts to train the full movements.

Cain's form wasnt terrible TBH, he just had poor balance. His power clean would probably be a lot uglier.

IMO, jump squats with the trap bar are the best explosive lifts for a novice. Sad that a former HW champion should be considered a novice but here we are.
 
Nobody gives a shit about your form, i always see mma fighters training with bad form and they dont care, its not like bodybuilders are an example of health and longevity, they look like they got the lowest quality muscle possible filled with oil, stiff as a board and lat flaring like insecure morons, he trains for explosivity and transitioning to shrugs is a nice addition

poor form = injury
 
Doing deadlifts with bad form with shrugs at the end is a disaster for him. He already had a messed up back from God knows what.
 
I'm shit embedding videos with this phone, but if anyone types Tom Martin 410kg deadlift on youtube, you will see him doing these with good form up to 220kg

First of all if you want to train for explosivity,your form must be impecable. Thats why mma fighters have so many injuries,its combiantion of all things and then stupid lifting training thats an icing on the cake.
