Got a friend in the 60620 zip. Can I get some testimonials about decent schools in the area?

thanks in advance.

I used to pass through that area on the train going downtown, although I lived to the southwest of it. Decent schools abound depending on how far he wants to travel. Since if he lives in that area he isn't too far from the Dan Ryan I'd put a plug in for my school:

It's maybe a 30-45 minute drive and he'd get a chance to train with the current WEC Bantamweight champ Miguel Torres.

I also had some experience with the Chicago Fitness Center which is on 3131 north Lincoln on the northside of Chicago. http://chicagofitnesscenter.com/ and http://www.shidokan.com/

They're a legit school for stand up in the Kickboxing and Knockdown Karate vein, they have some ground instruction there as well. They've produced some decent guys as far as Karate goes, and Shonie Carter used to train there. I'm not sure if he still does now though. Also, their tournaments are fun to watch.

Those are the two I've had experience with that I'd recommend checking out.

There is also Gilbert Grappling out in the south suburbs, they have some legit fighters out there as well (most notably Clay Guida and Chase Beebe of the top of my head). They're more wrestling oriented. Their website is a mess so I'll give you their myspace instead
