NBA NBA Thread: Gamble Gate

Jordan Clarkson to the Knicks is a good move. Much needed scoring off the bench.

There's some truth to that, but it goes hand in hand with MLSE not exactly being happy with him bending them over the table in his last contract negotiation. When they give you the world, you best produce, and fast. I think the Raps got a bit unlucky with Siakam kind of floundering without Kawhi. Wasn't the backup cornerstone of the franchise he looked to be.

Whatever. Had Championship sex.

He built a deep roster with lots of fleecing and gambled and cashed in. Raptors fans will be forever grateful as they should be. I had them as a 3rd tier franchise and never had them winning one in the modern era and he legitimized them.

They gave him a good contract and 6 years to get it together and he's assembled a crew of misfits who we know what they are. It would be one thing if it was a team of prospects waiting to develop but these are just middling bums many years into the league.

I'd only push back on "misfits". Every team is a group of misfits when they're rebuilding. They're still in a "wait and see" phase, as their young players develop.

I never ever imagined them winning though. Of the major Toronto teams, they were my very distant third in hopes of ever winning a Championship. Best trade ever, and for that, Ujiri gets infinite props forever in this town. I don't really like shit canning him, because the Raps never had much of an identity before him, outside of Grunwald making some great picks in the drafts that fluked them to some fleeting success. Ujiri was a rock. I would've at least given him this year to see if they were going anywhere.

Fuck you Pelinka. You dont deserve to have a job. New owners need to do what they did to the dodgers and find the nba’s version of Friedman.

Not sure I understand Looney leaving to go to the Pelicans. I mean I get that Golden State (if they get Horford) is going to be an old starting line up but the Pelicans? Golden State on the other hand looks like they are trying to make the movie Uncle Drew happen next season.

Damn, Gaycers lose a Finals in Game 7, when leading at the half. Lose their leader for the entire next season, and now, lost Myles Turner. Fans in Indiana have to be devastated.
