dude thats fucking awesome. i am a native american from manitoba, canada and i really don't know much about my culture or history. my grandparents were sent to residential schools when they were young, that might have something to do with it. my granny can speak her language, but ive never talked with her about native culture or anything like that. When the Comanches came down from the hills that they were driven into, they sought to exterminate their enemies, namely the Apaches, due to a blood vengeance. The Apaches actually had to ally with the Spaniards in order to survive. War for extermination wasn't something the natives were unfamiliar with.
Comanches were ruthless. They would sometimes drag captive babies behind their horses until dead. They'd also often seize females and assimilate them, while male captives were executed as a matter of tribal policy - often tortured first.
They were also incredibly skilled horsemen.
"Amongst their feats of riding there is one that has astonished me more than anything of the kind I have ever seen or expect to see, in my life: - a stratagem of war, learned and practiced by every young man in the tribe; by which he is able to drop his body on the side of his horse at the instant he is passing, effectively screened from his enemies' weapons, as he lays in a horizontal position behind the body of his horse, with his heel hanging over the horse's back....in this wonderful condition, he will hang whilst his horse is at fullest speed, carrying with him his bow and shield and also his long lance 14 feet in length."
- George Catlin
They would break wild horses by lassoing them, tightening the rope until it choked them, then drive them to the ground and keep them there until near death. They'd then loosen the rope and allow it to rise to its feet, where they'd gently stroke the trembling animal and blow air into its nose.
They were badass. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to read about their history, it's where I got the above information from:

We do give a shit. The US gives them tons of financial support (reservations, the ability to circumvent certain laws (like opening a casino, not payin taxes), government aid etc...). It's just that a lot of these programs are poorly run, resulting in poor living conditions. We are also more conscious than ever about their history and how they're represented (the Redskins debacle, Columbus no longer being treated as a hero). We esentailly destoryed thier culture and killed 10s of millions of them. For some reason, we do not give a shit about that like we do black slavery or jews.
I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but it would be a really good idea to sit down with your grandma and record her talking in her language, create a key for the language, etc.dude thats fucking awesome. i am a native american from manitoba, canada and i really don't know much about my culture or history. my grandparents were sent to residential schools when they were young, that might have something to do with it. my granny can speak her language, but ive never talked with her about native culture or anything like that.

I have no clue if you have kids or not, but it would be nice to have examples from your ancestors when you teach them about your culture.
Not even going to get into it with you, your mind is set, no one will change it but yourself.
You might want to send a copy to your State Historical Society also. ND every couple of years puts out advertisements trying to get people to send in recordings of different languages. It doesn't matter if it's native, german, or pig latin. It's all archived and available to schools to use in teaching.dont tell me what to do.
jk lol. thats a great idea. she speaks two actually, Ojibwe and Cree. I hear her talking to her siblings and friends with a combination of english, ojibwe and cree. sounds cool.
Women and children and cowards attaaaaaaaack! They're probably the p4p toughest people around. Don't ever get in a fight with a native. Even if youre bigger and stronger, they're basically impossible to put away.
Typical white ignorant response downplaying the devastating effects that you're people's atrocities have on their victims, insulting anyone with a voice as crybabies. You are scum.
