Part of the solution is getting money put toward the right things rather than absorbed by all manner of fuckery. There is so much waste. The program I work with provides health and family resources that go directly- every dollar- to the kids and their families. All manner of social services: drug/alcohol abuse intervention and prevention, cultural and practical education including dropout prevention and basic math, literacy, etc., hygiene, sex ed, juvenile courts intervention, you name it. You have to go directly to the kids and work with them. Not all of the parents are bad but it can get really, really dark. I've been doing this long enough (almost 20 years) to where i've seen kids come from some crazy broken homes and end up being productive members of society. Just a while back I ran into a former program kid that is now managing a fancy pants restaurant here in town. Unfortunately, many of them can't break the cycle but this is the only way I can think of to truly have any hope of doing so. Unfortunately for us, our funding sources are, shall we say, not looking so good lately even though it's more than worth it. Who knows how many tax dollars we've saved keeping these kids from being swallowed by the justice system.Ditto. Their culture is a mess on so many different levels. Some of which is no fault of their own, some of which is a by product of the resources they are supplemented by a government trying the save face in a relatively lackluster manner. A legitimately fucked up generation is now raising an even more fucked up generation. Many of those reservation kids don't stand a chance. It's even sadder when you consider these kids who are already at a disadvantage are having multiple kids of their own at extremely young ages. Further handcuffing their ability to get themselves out of poverty while simultaneously continuing the cycle they're in and passing that on to their children.
I have no clue how they're going to fix those issues.
Don't forget about the cannibalism. You rounded them up like sheep and killed them, there blood is on your hands

This shit right here. Sammypops with the pure excellence post.
I hope you are not implying that African Americans have nothing to complain about because of you are, you're an idiot.
Well fuck then. Tell me though, even though my ancestors or I were never involved in this bad shit, what's a fair amount of my salary to give up to pay people who aren't victims for crimes I didn't commit.
Give me a ballpark figure of how much people should be paying to make up for this shit they didn't do.
Nobody said that, does it trigger you so much for people to point out observable facts or speak about historical events and societal conditions? Are we to censor ourselves now and not ever speak on these topics because overly sensitive people like you get your feelings hurt?
i honestly don't know anything about their current culture, aside from there being a huge alcohol issue in their reservations.
