Woke means "aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)".

Apparently a growing number of Americans actually wants a more authoritarian president, so it's a depressing time to be an American. This isn't a huge surprise, Germany wanted authoritarianism under Hitler (my family grew up in Nazi Germany and the one thing my grandmother said about Hitler was that everyone loved him until he started exterminating people).

The MAGA movement is destructive to the foundations of democracy. Project 2025 is pretty terrifying and Trump was recently in an interview confirming he supports those policies completely. He's out there saying these things in the light of day, and all you do is laugh it off as "orange man bad" or "TDS".

You dismiss people who want an America that cares about the less fortunate as being the "woke faith". That's depressing as fuck.

The issue I think tends to be though that mainstream liberals do not address why a desire for right wing strongmen keeps on coming back, they just push this idea that things were going along nicely then then all of a sudden "BAM" these evil far right authoritarians appeared again.

You look a bit deeper and I would argue really what you see in common is you have strong public dissatisfaction with the status quo, the economic instability between the wars and more recently post 2008 made it worse but the establishment focused on making sure their could not be strong socialist change. They suppressed it and the result is that anti establishment feeling was instead pushed towards right wing demagogues who I think the establishment is far happier with because they do not threaten the interests of the ultra wealthy as much, the Nazi's only came to power with the help of Germany conservatives.

I'd argue the main reason the US especially avoided right wing popularism post great depression was that FDR pushed though a strongly socialist platform or arguably was forced to do so because the US trade union movement was so strong. Fast forward though and no such shift has happened post 2008, no president Saunders just Obama, Hilary and Biden offering essentially more of the same and the result is Trump.

I would argue a significant issue as well is that "feminism" is not monolithic.

The more "anti sex" side of modern feminism I would argue tends not to be "left wing" it tends to be middle class(often middled aged) liberals who have a hefty dose of conservatism to them.

Honestly even if you go back to second wave feminism I tend to think a big issue is a lot of those involved had grown up in conservatism enviroments which strongly sexually shamed women, even if they had rejected religion itself I feel like that aspect was so ingrained they carried it with them still.
 
Its true that outside of character actors you do tend to need to be good looking to do well in Hollywood BUT you also tend to need to actually have talent as well which I think she does.
People who get into films purely by being hot tend not to last very long, at least at the higher levels of sucess.

Honestly though I think thats in large part bound up in the nature of a lot of these films/shows as they don't want to be an exact reflection of reality they want to be an elevated version of it.

life gets easier when you stop trying to understand their insanity. "conservatives" nowadays do not really stand on anything beyond being "anti-woke". being woke to them means getting fired for sexual harassment or calling your co-workers slurs...

Economically, things are demonstrably better when Democrats are in charge and worse with the GOP.

Conservative politicians take victory laps on successful Democrat legislation they voted against, MGT's district is doing incredibly well DESPITE her.

No matter how the Democrats have failed to reach their promises there is NEVER a reason to vote for a Trump. People want things no politician is ever going to give them, and when a Trump promises them it's always a lie. There hasn't been a prosperous conservative president in my lifetime, and I was born in 1968. They're always a disaster. Always.

Democrats aren't great, they're only as good as the GOP forces them to be, which is an incredibly low bar. If the GOP gave a flying fuck about the people and passed bills that actually helped people, maybe the Democrats would work harder.
