Title says it all.

What is the most recent movie (in terms of release date) that makes it in your top 10 of all time?

For me, it's probably Interstellar (2014). I know it's not for everyone, but easily in my top 10, probably top 3.

Other than that, everything else in my top 10 would be before 2010.

I have so many guilty pleasure movies that I want to put in this, primarily all of the Transformer movies. I know they are not the best but again, they are my guilty pleasure movies where I can be a kid again and relive the 80s.

Eliminating those I would say Top Gun 2 (2022). In the age of crappy remakes and sequels, this one delivered and is easily in my top 10.

Not inane enough to make a top 10 but to make my all time favourites:

The Prestige. 2006?

Hot Fuzz. 2007?

Guardians of the Galaxy. 2015?

No Country for Old Men. 2007?

The VVitch. 2016?

Guessed the dates.

There this one movie released this year that went unnoticed but to me is one the greatest ever. And it's so because it's on a setting that it is unique and fascinating to me

Last Breath

It's a real story about a deep diving accident that happened when divers went to repair an oil pipe deep down in the ocean. It's fascinating because it looks like a sci Fi movie but it's real life. Also they managed to be really technical and immersive and truthful and it's very tense

Saw a documentary about that. Didn’t realized they’d made a film, too.

Always fascinated by survival stories, but feel they are better suited to docs.

Will definitely check it out.

You will probably enjoy it then. It's a great story by itself as you know

The movie did a great job for immersion which documentaries can't really do of course

When I went to watch it I didn't know about the story just that it was a real one about deep diving so I was like sold. Which worked for me cause it made everything more shockingly

Yeah, in general films based on real life events often frustrate me.

Like Saving Private Ryan. Was okay, great set pieces, but they felt the need to add the corny “human story” which took away from the rest for me. Saying that they did it with Band of Brothers, too, which is elite, imo.

Then you get trash like Braveheart. Kinda enjoyable I guess, but it’s like anti education. Don’t mind a bit of embellishment, but when it’s altered that much it almost becomes propaganda.

Guess for a story like this, there’s no need to add too many bells and whistles.
