Or that could be that Alex didnt bite on his feints and took away alot of his kicks. Maybe you know what was in Izzys head though idk.did you read my other post? i already explained that. he was shook. he was too worried about Pereira's power and you could see it in his demeanor in the entire fight.
Alex is a better kickboxer.
Izzy is a better Mma fighter.
To be fair, we have yet to see Alex fight a legit wrestler. Izzy has already fought some pretty tough wrestlers with Whittaker (twice), Brunson, Gastelum and Romero even though he didn't wrestle much in their fight.Lmao ... In case you forget, Izzy was just dethroned (KO'd) by Alex ... after being KO'd (retired) in Kickboxing by Alex.
Alex is better at both.

Too much text.
Interesting that Pereira is BY FAR the better technical striker when he was on his way to losing a decision.
Penis Hallman is better than Matt Hughes?Lmao ... In case you forget, Izzy was just dethroned (KO'd) by Alex ... after being KO'd (retired) in Kickboxing by Alex.
Alex is better at both.
This post made me kinda hornyAlex is the Alpha.
Izzy is more touchy feely.
"Technically" -- fighter success in damaging an opponent and dismantling each other's tools, whilst accumulating points to take rounds if it goes to the judges -- is a bar argument for what purpose?
The fight ended when Alex violently asserted his role as alpha -- and Izzy was beaten.
LOL

"For basically half of the fight it went like I thought it would go"
Part where he got oustricken and outgrappled. You cannot excuse him being a worse fighter on trying things and getting caught clean. It is that simple. If Alex kept his distance and let 2 seconds expire he would have won the 1st round. If Alex didn't try to a judo trip, which he sucks at, Izzy would have to stand and exchange, which he was losing most of the time. The way Izzy won those rounds were to the fault of Alex. What part was horrid to you dummy?
I don't necessarily disagree with OP, but the part where he says he fully expected Izzy to wilt & Alex to take over. Alex cuts a lot of weight, he is either the biggest or 2nd biggest weight cutter at MW (along with Costa). Guys who cut huge amounts of weight tend to have cardio issues as the fight progresses. There were tons of people who questioned whether Alex would have cardio in the championship rds. Alex did look gassed &/or tired in rd 3 & 1st half of rd 4. He seemed to get a 2nd wind in the 2nd half of rd 4 though.
So one fight instantly declares someone superior in the entire sport? So the 9-7 Giants who beat the 19-0 Patriots in a single match, the super bowl, were better at football that season?Lmao ... In case you forget, Izzy was just dethroned (KO'd) by Alex ... after being KO'd (retired) in Kickboxing by Alex.
Alex is better at both.
Very high level postThere is a pervasive opinion, that Israel Adesanya is a "better" or "more technical" kickboxer than Alex Pereira, and that Alex just has "more power."
This is flat-out untrue.
The truth is, Alex Pereira is better everywhere (technically speaking) than Israel Adesanya. From correctly-throwing punches, with leverage, to kicking & checking kicks, to knees and flying knees (especially switch-knees), Alex Pereira is by far the better technical striker than Adesanya — as his professional record (and multiple world titles in kickboxing) clearly demonstrate.
The only advantage Israel Adesanya has over Pereira is speed & movement, not skills. Alex is slower, more deliberate, more methodical, and more sustained. Izzy is just able to dart in-and-out so fast.
Literally, the fight between them was the proverbial the tortoise vs. the rabbit — with the rabbit slowing down in the end and losing the race. Over and over, the result will always be the same.
If you actually watch and rewatch that last fight, Alex systematically broke Israel Adesanya down, with a sustained body and leg attack. If you watch the punch stats, Alex rarely went for the head during the first few rounds. He actually out-landed Adesanya, in every round, if you look at the body and leg stats. It was the perfect game plan.
Yeah, Izzy won the head stats, at least he did in the beginning.
The fight basically went exactly as I thought it would go (sans the third and fourth rounds). I figured Izzy would be ahead early, would slow down in the middle-to late rounds, and would eventually get caught and obliterated by Alex.
I actually thought it would be Alex who would win the ground game, so Izzy dominating in the third was a surprise — but the end result was exactly the same as what I thought it would be: GRAPPLING EXCHANGES WOULD SLOW IZZY DOWN ... and make him ripe for the picking for Alex's power shots.
And that's exactly what happened.
Have to give Israel Adesanya credit for being a capable champion. But all throughout Israel Adesanya's UFC career, he has enjoyed a height advantage, a reach advantage, a kickboxing advantage, and a speed advantage ... which is precisely why he has remained undefeated, until now.
Against Alex Pereira, Israel Adesanya no longer had a height advantage, no longer had a reach advantage, no longer had kickboxing advantage — the only thing he had left was his speed advantage — which slowly got taken from him, and ended in the fifth round.
Pereira's equal physical stature, combined with his superior kickboxing, superior technique, and superior power finally caught up with Adesanya, and the longer any fight goes between these two, the result will always be the same.
Izzy's speed will only carry him so far against the better, stronger, more powerful, more technically-polished veteran kickboxer with superior physical attributes that is Alex Pereira.
That's my $0.02 ...
You're only talking punching and you ignored all of my other points. Why is that? Remember, you need to get into punching range to execute all of those perfect punches. Lol Izzy simply out sped Alex? Wow, I mean that alone should discredit you or at the very least confirm that you're extremely biased. Why are you being insulting?
You don't have the mentality to disagree without being insulting?
Read the post I just made above.
If you think Alex was the only dual-Champion in Glory, and just KO'd and defeated (the previously undefeated) Adesanya ... because of "chin and power" then you're the one who's the Shertard.
Pereira has exceptional technique, and perfect leverage/torque in his execution. This is what generates the power.
Throwing something "fast" doesn't mean it's thrown properly, with leverage, or will do anything to the person who's hit.
Only throwing a punch correctly, feet planted properly, legs/hips torqued with perfect timing, generates the kind of KO power that Pereira has.
"Only speed and movement", lol. I mean you're a lot more thoughtful than most Sherdogs? Sherdoggy's? But you're only accounting for offense and I know because you put all of Izzy's footwork under the umbrella of "movement". Sound like someone? Yeah Joe Rogan. No mention of timing, ranges, set ups, feints, and just overall trickery.
You give props to Periera for "walking through" Israel's offense and not actually negating it. That tell's me that you approve of Periera getting hit as long he gets his licks in. You put no stock into defense whatsoever. Fights aren't fought completely in the pocket and Periera had to fight hard to get there. It wasn't until Periera took out Izzy's "movement" ,as you say, that Alex secured the fight for himself.
The sequence you speak about in the 5th with the "cross through the guard" Weasel bullshit that everyone parrots didn't hurt Izzy until his leg were compromised. Alex took out his greatest weapon, he did that in a tough fight that he was losing and was almost finished in. That said, he didn't display he was the superior striker.
The superior striker doesn't need a 5 Rd pep talk ala Leon Edwards to win the fight. As Teddy Atlas likes to say, Periera found his "geography" (got into the pocket) after taking away Adesanya's greatest asset, his legs.
Perhaps you have been striking for awhile, but I offer you this, with your complete disregard for defense, maybe you're a certain kind of striker. The kind that usually don't have long careers if they did this full time. If you were a striking teacher you wouldn't/shouldn't be allowed around kids (not like that sherbronies).
@IronGolem007
I saw that Weasel video too
Yet you talk about "walking through Izzy's shots". Great advice, sus.
You prefer pocket fighters and punchers, in a big boxing fan too, where these kinds of things are held in high regard. He does have good punch technique, he does get great leverage in his punches, he does have great instincts in the pocket. The same things that got him in trouble against Izzy (kickboxing) gets him in trouble in other striking arts. In boxing against boxers (not punchers) and in MT against Muay Femur.
Alex is a great striker, but he is not complete and definitely not better than Israel Adesanya.

Before you feign ignorance, let me get those posts for you:
Now who's getting triggered lol.I apologize, but I'm not sure I get what you're trying to say.
Lest you forget, Israel Adesanya just got KO'd by Alex Pereira.
Pereira is now the UFC Middleweight Champion. (Izzy is now on a 60 day post-KO suspension.)
The last time they fought, Pereira KO'd Izzy here too. (Izzy had to be brought oxygen and was carried out on a stretcher.)
While you're "mentally-masturbating" as to the "possible nuances," please try to remember THE ULTIMATE REALITY... which is, every time they fight, Izzy goes to the hospital afterward... and Pereira bangs his woman.
The only reason Israel Adesanya has been "the UFC Middleweight Champion" ... is because Alex Pereira hasn't been on the same venue.
Now, after joining the same venue, and in only his 7th fight, Alex Pereira again vanquished Adesanya and again sent Izzy to the hospital.
No words or discussion will change these facts.
