News Mysterious drones over New Jersey

Just picked up my daughter and saw a line of them heading east to the shore. Also some planes flying beside them in formation. This was the exact opposite flight pattern I witnessed on Friday night when they were headed west. This is a govt/Amazon project of some sort. Jeff gets his delivery system and the govt gets free surveillance of the populace.

Fedex is using their new cameras and AI to help fight crime. Wouldn't be surprised in the least if amazon will now survey the skies for big brother.

Federal agencies like the CIA and Department of Defense (DOD) have highly restricted authority to conduct surveillance on U.S. populations using drones, and such actions are governed by laws, executive orders, and oversight mechanisms.
Using drones to surveil individuals without proper authorization would violate the 4th amendment.
The CIA is generally prohibited from conducting operations, including surveillance, within the U.S. under Executive Order 12333.
Exceptions exist only for cooperation with domestic law enforcement or other agencies, and these must comply with U.S. law.
The DOD can conduct limited domestic activities, but only for specific purposes such as disaster response, search and rescue, or national emergencies. Surveillance of U.S. citizens is strictly regulated and usually requires presidential or congressional authorization.

In extreme situations, such as martial law or national emergencies, federal agencies might receive expanded powers. However, these would still be subject to court review and public scrutiny once the emergency ends.

Federal agencies like the CIA and DOD have limited and highly regulated authority to conduct surveillance on U.S. populations with drones. Most drone surveillance is carried out by agencies like the FBI or DHS under strict legal frameworks, requiring warrants or other legal authorization. Unauthorized or indiscriminate surveillance would violate constitutional rights and federal law.

If you think this is Amazon…
You must have a special kind of mind and I’m jealous of how high you must be.

People look up and see them at night... Pretty regularly... And I'm supposed to believe the government can't grab one?

Of course, if they did hit Washington, I don't even want to think what the US response would be. Bush II threatened to wipe Mecca off the map if Al Qaeda carried out Nuclear Terrorism on US soil, I believe.
An amazing amount of war criming the shit out of whoever did it.

Every stadium in the US has facial recognition at all entrances....do you consider this surveillance?

What about city or police cameras set up in high traffic urban areas....is this not surveillance too?

Stadiums are private property.
Cameras set up in high traffic are not drone surveillance, they are legal domestic law enforcement operations that follow specific regulations.

Have you heard about the police drone and helicopter interactions with these things? You think Amazon is tactically evading police drones and disabling civilian drones with stupidly complex hacking tools?

There’s too much information about this ongoing situation, in this thread alone, to consider it’s Amazon going technofascist lol.

Ok fine...I've seen them twice now in person and didn't see them as threatening or menacing. And then others have stated if our govt has no idea what where or how about these things why have they publicly decreed them harmless with little investigation?

Additionally I think any drone delivery would need to evade many obstacles as possible so sending police drones and helicopters after them falls directly in line with a test to me. You probably trust our govt a hell of alot more than me but I've had many conversations around inactive phones or alexa devices that have suddenly found their way into my algorithms the next time I've opened a device too many times to believe we aren't being surveilled in some form or another at all times.

If they're looking for nukes or weapons or whatever, a weapon that can cause catastrophic damage, I would assume you want to look for it quickly as possible. Then why only look for them with such limited resources? Only with a new high tech drone fleet the rest of government doesn't know about, with no communication with local governments and law enforcement, and only at night? You'd think you'd see guys in hazmat suits and choppers all over the place, all times of the day.

And they're over military bases? The government lost a nuke in it's own military base? Or a foreign adversary hid a nuke in a US base in US territory somehow and it's taking them over a month to find it? They're also apparently in other states and countries so that makes no sense either.
