My respect for DDP has grown a lot

Sure as a fighter hes already great but with UFC 312 listening to a lot of his interviews makes me respect the guy even more.

Dude is quite funny. After Stricklands fights like a retard on a short bus his come back was perfect. He stays calm under these positions too.

His respect for other fighters. Not always trash talking (even though its fun) and yes he wants to move up a weight class but wants to clear out the contenders first in the MW first. Wanting the tough fights.

Before I got to your post, I saw that pic and genuinely thought he's like the antagonist from a raunchy high school/college comedy

Always nice when someone you are sure to be an asshole and a jock turns out to be a much more complex and likable guy. We need people like him so our brains don't get stuck in simplicity in a complex world. It tends to take the easy route with people. Well at least mine does!

He's a great ambassador for the sport, exciting fighter, plenty of action, and he is eloquent and intelligent, and respectful to his opponents.

One of the best "new" additions to the elite of the sport. You Cannot beat Strickland twice and Adesanya and Whittaker without being very very good indeed. That's 3 ex 185lb champs right there. And Dricus has beaten them all.

Am also a Strickland fan as he is about as real as it gets. Happy he making good money and getting great exposure. I know he says some stupid shit but still kinda live the dude. And I really like his walkouts to that Civil War marching song.

One way to look at it is:
DDP is a nice guy, smart, and confident.
Izzy is a nice guy, smart, and not confident. . . and that results in him blowing up, getting overly emotional/insecure, ....crying....and also being a bit of a head case in the cage.
Both guys are great fighters obvs.

DDP along with Ilia Topuria, are two of my favorite fighters right now. With many of my current fav's, like Jones, Gaethje, Porior, and a few others, at the end of their careers, I'm looking for some new guys that I can get excited about to watch fight. UFC needs some new stars, and these two guys have a good chance to fill the void.
