My Problem with the Knee

Nobody said open season. Go on youtube and watch a couple videos of police killing unarmed black men. Then come back and we can have a discussion

Tell me exactly how many of your cases resulted in the cops being found liable and wrong, aka a bad shoot. I hope you come up with a factual answer instead of an emotional response.

So your evidence is Youtube? Here some stats. Police killings were down 25% in 2016, only 164 of them were black which was half the number of whites and only 16 of those were UNARMED. So 16 unarmed killings out of 1.5 million cops in the US is .001%...that is what you are calling 'racial injustice'. Like I said, it's a political narrative pushed by the far left.

And you also have to take into consideration what "unarmed" means in relation to the sensationalism. If a guy drives a car at a cop and gets blasted, the media considers him unarmed. Well, I consider a guy driving at me in a 3000 lb missile as "armed." The media's semantics are questionable at best.

When your president refuses to acknowledge the racial injustice these players are feeling then any point is the right point to take the knee. Some players may not have agreed with Kaepernick but players are kneeling for individual reasons.

A thousand posts since joining ? Bleeding-heart line ?

Nope, not convinced by your account.

My problem with the knee thing is that Euro and Canadian media are starting to get on this.

Inevitably they will brand it as "resistance against Trump", and inevitably the cattle in Canada and Europe will start to mimic it, in an attempt at being edgy.

And inevitably I will be annoyed as fuck and come here to vent.

And inevitably some hyperventilating lefty will come ask me for a source, and I will be even more annoyed and leave, etc.

Yes how presidential to call people names. I forgot though, Trump loves the poorly education and they love it when the president comes down to their level

Ha 1100 posts in 45 days. You can take your disability check and shove it up your hemorrhoided ass.

Trump spoke the truth, you should stand for the national anthem, the USA is a great country full of opportunity. Respect and show gratitude for that.

The ultimate irony is that NFL'ers are utilizing freedom of speech to protest DURING THE ANTHEM of the same Country that specifically grants them freedom of speech. The more I think about this, the more confused I get.

Pick another forum and time, NFL'ers. And find a worthy leader for this cause. The cause is fine, the choice of action is baffling.

Wait, so people shouldn't use freedom of speech to protest the United States, because the United States protects freedom of speech?

What do you think freedom of speech is for? Shitposting about traps?

They have that right to protest, and we have that right to critique how they do it.

You're telling me this isn't ironic?
Wait, they're protesting "The United States"?. True, they are basically protesting the flag. It's hard to determine specifics.
Von Miller said he felt Trump's comments were an assault on their freedom of speech. So he protests the entire flag and anthem.
Sorry, I do support police reform and shit like that but this whole method of protest makes less sense to me day by day. MLK got up and spoke about very specific things. Ali, Jabbar and Brown got behind a mic and spoke intelligently. They didn't just organize some aimless "march on wall street", or "let's all kneel during the anthem because we're upset" type of thing.

I stand with Kap. He is the rosa parks of this generation.

This discussion is pretty funny.

Trump gets people upset for doing something = he's awesome because he's managing to get people riled up.

Athletes get people upset when they don't stand for the anthem = this is horrible, they should not upset people like this.

I just think it's all hilarious
it's sports, nobody wants politics involved except ESPN. That's it

also, the league that has multiple felons (literal assaulters and killers, rapists, weapons and gun charges, etc..) is taking a stance?

word?

It's not funny. It was funny during the campaigns but not anymore. I don't want politics in sports. But I want the President of the United States picking public fights with football players when we're on the verge of nuclear war even less.

What do you think our allies' citizens in South Korea and Japan, whose lives are at stake right now, are thinking when they see this guy screaming about athletes being sons of bitches at rallies, that for some reason are still going on after campaigning is over, being in control of our military and nuclear codes? How do you think they feel entrusting whether they live or die to America now?
presumably fine
I work for the Marine Corps. We'll be straight
Gen Mattis bless

Totally acceptable?

If players were taking a knee to stand up for Colin Kappernick, I would understand.
If they were doing it to protest institutional injustice, I would disagree but understand.

The real reason they're doing this is to spite Donald Trump. The vast majority of these players only took a knee after Donald Trump said they shouldn't. That's childish reverse psychology.

If Trump said not to cut off your hand, would you cut off your hand?
If Trump said not to back-hand babies, would you smack some babies?

That they're defying their national anthem just because Trump said they shouldn't is immature.

Where was your "solidarity" at the beginning of the season when Kappernick wasn't resigned? That was the time to take a stand (knee).

I said it in another thread. They are attention seeking whores.

This reminds me of the ALS ice bucket challenge. Nobody gives a fuck about ALS, most don't even know what it is- but everyone wanted a video on facebook.

Don't worry, it'll just be for this season. Once enough people jump on the bandwagon that this will not be an edgy, hip thing to do.
Eventually two supporting groups will start to fight with each other and this will fade away.

Go on youtube and watch hundreds of videos of white people getting shot by cops. Then come back and we can have a discussion.

This happened 3 blocks from my house. It was crazy.

Also, after the cop shot the guy he lied about it. He said he didn't shoot.

I could post endless videos of white people getting shot by cops. It isn't a racial issue. Take a step back and let reality soak in.
