My Poker Goals

Still can't sleep, been up 22 hours and I have work in 3 hrs lol.

Alright, some random thoughts.

1) Position is SO important.
2) I shouldn't raise just because it's two suited cards.
3) Position is SO important.

If anyone wishes to add to anything, please do.

Just got done playing some 4-8 (live game)....won 53 dollars...

After the second consecutive bad beat on the River i left.

And Position is the most overlooked aspect of poker...

I won 4 big hands, based solely on where I was in relation to the dealer button.

If you haven't invested in getting something like PokerTracker I suggest you get it. It reads in all the hand histories the rooms spit out. PT gives a nice HUD that places over the table you're playing that will show various things like pre flop raise percentage and aggression.

I'm very familiar with the HUDs actually and I do have PT4.

If you are looking for long term results, 20 buy ins is not enough.
Variance is a motherfucker.

But if you simply want to run it up and don't mind going broke, it's okay.
You can sign up on boomplayer.com and post hands here to discuss.'

- You can play Zoom to increase the number of hands you play per hour.
But I suggest you play less than four tables if you're not a proffesional.
Getting reads on players will make you a lot of money in Zoom.

Do you play full ring or 6max?

Another tip: If you're looking to improve, play fewer tables and also play heads up.

Did not see this initially, I play 6 max only, four tables of 25NL. Do you happen to play any MTTs Hachemisafish?

My question is, how do I improve from here? I've played on and off for about 4 years now and I feel like I'm stuck. Any advice

You improve by analysing your and other people's hands.
Watch poker coaching videos.
Learn how to think about the game, rather than remembering the answers in particular hands.

You can post your hands on forums and dicuss them, or just get random boomplayer hands you didn't play and discuss them with good players.

Went to the website and clicked on the first random cash game hand.

Position and aggression are the most important terms in poker.
Learn how to build ranges and how to get proper reads on people, how to use game selection etc.

Allow private messages btw.

Weird.
I tried it, but it said that you either don't want messages or your inbox is full.
Oh well.

I agree with the person that mentioned variance. You aren't rolled to be playing that high of limits. A couple bad days and you're done. And you can't play scared or super conservative either, because that is obviously -EV.

Good luck. Hopefully you run well to get your bankroll up then what I said above won't matter.

I'm wary of "U.S. friendly" sites post Black Friday. I have about $50 on Bovada and that's all I'll play with.

Plus, from what I've read, the micros are so much harder to beat now and it actually takes some study to do it. I'd rather just win easily by playing ABC like back in 2005.

Don't put a time limit on it. You don't have to play.
Play when you feel good and when you can enjoy it.

I dealt with huge swings for a long time because I just couldn't control my tilt and I'd start chasing my losses, like every up and coming player does.

If you just don't feel like it, don't play.
And when you're winning and playing well, just keep playing.

this.
although it seems like the most logical advice, a lot of people don't get/enforce this (i'm guilty of this sometimes).

i often said to myself after a bad night "should've quit when i was ahead" but the main reason i lost was i wasn't playing my optimal game.

I agree.

If tomorrow the states announced that online poker was 100% legal, we would have another poker boom where there would be tons of donks and you could just play ABC. I'd be getting a loan and going right to Pokerstars.
