1. Saying she's "one of the most accomplished strawweights of all time" is absurd. She has exactly 1 top 5 win in her career, and she's been outclassed in a number of fights.
2. She's received criticism for valid reasons, even if that criticism has gone a bit too far.

Yeh, I mean I think we all know how the UFC prefers to operate at this point, but they're not going to suddenly push Dern above two girls who recently beat her just because she's got a good ass. She's not that popular.

Oddly enough, she does have a win over Virna, who is likely next after Suarez. A rematch for a title shot if there's some fuckery with Zhang/Suarez might be in order.

people tend to start mimicing the way people around them speak. so if mac dern spends a lot more time around brazilians than americans then a changing accent would make sense.
