The way I see it Dern has quietly became one of the most accomplished strawweights ever. She's fought a LOT and against some killers. It's not that often you see a specialist in a sport and transition to MMA and actually eclipse their original sport in terms of dedication. It's also not usual we see someone who is clearly the greatest in one department of the game, even without a viable route to gold

I don't really like her chances against Weili. But against Suarez I could almost see her winning. Her striking and overhands seem a but rudimentary but it's such a treat seeing her operate on the ground

Earned the next title shot over who? Lemos and Andrade who both beat her recently? What about Virna? There's no way she should be jumping ahead of Virna.

Perfectly said. I'm not a fan, and didn't like her much, but she's won me over with her dedication.

One Ugly woman. Hate her "Accent" Seems about as authentic as Madonna's British accent and just as ugly.

All this gushing over her as some kind of BJJ goddess who has applied that to MMA is laughable. She isn't the Damain Maia of WMMA or something.
 
The whole accent drama is kinda hilarious and Derns striking can be ugly at times. All valid memes in my opinion. But her spirit, heart or whatever you wanna call it is respectable in my book. There are times where she is on the losing end and getting beat up badly and still refuses to quit

Are you saying any of those 3 women would bring more eyeballs than Dern to a PPV title fight? they won't make THE main event, but probably a co-main.
 
while I have been known to make unsavoury horse face jokes at her expense, mainly to hook into the thirsty basement dweller weirdos in here , shes got some quite resonablable striking and very slick BJJ.
Shes always worth a watch.
Shes an alright chick.

I'm not saying they would bring more eyeballs to a fight, I'm just saying they all deserve it more than Dern does.
 
She's definitely resilient. Coming into her own. Definitely good for the division.
