Its break my heart to see her getting old. She is a 15yr chiwawa and over the last few months seems to have lost alomst all of her hearing. She used to be a very yappy dog that barked at every noise she heard like door bells and thangs but doesnt even notice someone is in the house until she sees them and then she starts barking. She doesnt answer when me and my wife call her to bed or to eat anymore, we have to pick her up or show her were to go. She seems to be healthy otherwise. I cant imagine what she is feeling and how fraighting it must be to lose your hearing. She has good life and living out her golden year with the best I can give her.

Sorry to hear, man ... But as long as she is still healthy otherwise, why should she not have a good life while it lasts?

Don't worry too much man. My cat is as old as the dickens and she's been deaf for like 4 years now. She can hear claps and really loud high pitched noises, but that's it. Either way she seems the same as she's always been. Hungry and tired.

Try clapping and see if you can get your pups ears to perk up.

My blind dog died this summer. He was a blue heeler mix, died at 13-14, and was blind for at least the last 4 years of his life. It wasn't easy - especially with a really active breed like that. He was a former champion frisbee dog. I imagine deafness could be a little easier to deal with... As long as the dog is happy, it just means you make some adjustments.

She has a good life and I think it is more scary to me than her. She seems to adpted to it well.

Tried clapping and her ear moves and blinks but she doesnt jump or turn her head if I clap on the side but nothing when I did it behind her back.

Cute dog. Going deaf is far from desirable, but she still gets to "defend the house" or get excited you're home when she sees the person instead of hears them. You say she's adapting well, and I think there's still a lot for her to enjoy in life.

She used to be a black dog. :(

Sorry to hear about your pup. Father time catches up with us all. Sounds like she has a great life with you and your wife, though.
