My cousin just bought shoes for 6800$

I think your cousin is hilarious. Let him do his thing. I respect that much more than someone that tries to fit a specific mold.

agreed - at least he does not have a fucking hipster beard, hipster bun.

That haircut just gave me Glaucoma.

we gotta see him in a Noid costume

Nice Manowar poster he's got there. Your cousin is my kinda guy. Splurging on stupid shoes and Manowar. Rockin.

The Manowar poster is mine, the picture was taken in my apartment. It was given to me by the Kings of Metal themselves. Hail!

Nike annouced in January the self-lacing ones were dropping this year. Did they fail or did he buy an early release without the feature?

He is not aware that the self-lacing ones are coming. He really wanted the original rare ones, the 1500 pairs that got auctioned on Ebay. I'm sure that when he's aware of the self-lacing ones, he will stop at nothing to acquire them.

The OP is by far the most fascinating thing i have read on sherdog in years. Fuck that's good.

He's your exact opposite: he can easily bench 200lbs, but he can't have sex with it!

Seriously, he's very literate and knowledgeable but he lacks social skills. He can talk about movies all day long, naming all the movies where a certain actor appeared. He can memorize movies by year or by genre and trace the lineage of people involved in the movie production.

Granted, those skills are pretty useless in day to day life but he's far from a retard.

He is like a bodybuilder builder version Sheldon then, one that works out in the gym instead of getting a PhD.

That or he is like the superhero version of a mayberry sherdogger, loves the 80s and lifts.

I would definitely party with this guy for shits and giggles. Would be fucking hilarious.

First things first, my cousin is a weirdo. He'a big movie fan and has thousands of movies in his collection. He's a big fan of Steven Seagal and JCVD. He is also a magician and call pull very advanced tricks, although he never made it a professional career. He's a loud talker, he laughs really loudly and has been banned from various all-you-can-eat restaurants because he eats too much. He's also banned from the Montreal Casino because he pulled card tricks while playing Black Jack...

Now, his favorite movies are the Back to the Future trilogy. He's been addicted to these movies for years and has watched them hundreds of times. He can recite the whole script by heart and uses different voices to emphasize his rendition. Weird thing, his favorite one is BttF 2, when Marty goes to the future to fix his shattered life. There's a scene where he gets some pretty nice self-lacing shoes and that stuck with my cousin. He always wanted to get those shoes and has been talking about it for years.

Now, Nike has recently released 1500 pairs to be auctioned on Ebay for the Michael J. Fox Parkinson foundation. Needless to say, the starting bids were very high. I think the cheapest pair sold for 5k and some sold for up to 15k. My cousin was so overwhelmed by the news, he got online and started bidding as soon as it opened.

Lucky for him (or is it?), he got his pair for a whooping 6800$. That's right folks, nearly 7k for a pair of shoes that shine in the dark. Also, it's important to note that they're not even self-lacing like in the movie. They just have funny lights in the back and on the side that can be recharged by USB but that's it. There's nothing else except the fact that they're identical to the ones in BttF 2. I held them in my hands today and this is what I can honestly say:

-They're very light for such big shoes.
-They seem cheaply made.
-It looks like they would wear out in less than a year of normal usage.
-The lights look silly as they constantly flash in different colors when turned on.

Now, this thread would not be complete without a picture of my cousin. Remember, he's a weirdo and has some kind of OCD syndrome. Did I mention he's also a bodybuilder? That's right, he's a big 250lbs guy standing tall at 5'6"...

The question is, would you call him out on his crazy shoes? Would you mug him to get the shoes on Ebay and sell them for up to 10-15k?

Be honest people!

So what if he's eccentric?

As long as he's not a dick and cool to you, it's just a cool story to tell. Family is family.

Does he have a wife/gf?

Ohh.. Wait. Why am I even asking this?

Seems pretty obvious.

6.8k for shoes? Hell I can replace my car for 2010 model that price (in my country).
