My big stupid hype trains thread.

Bruno Lopes

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Light Heavyweight
Age : 29
Promotion - LFA
Team - China Team
Record : 11-0

This dude took it to the next level for me in his LFA title fight. I was pretty impressed with him in his LFA debut but this was next level as he methodically beat up and stopped his opponent, looking like the real deal in the process. Really nice and accurate striking, fighting at a tempo that keeps the pressure on the opponent but doesn't has himself out, landing nice and damaging blows and just basically bullying the poor guy. Looks like a big league fighter to me.

Gabriella Fernandes

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Flyweight
Age : 29
Promotion - LFA
Team - Kimura Team
Record : 8-1

Another one returning for a title fight and levelling up in the process, Fernandes' striking just looked exceptional. Fast, accurate, good volume and decent power as she beat up Karoline Martins who I've seen be competitive with some decent girls, but who got made to look very average by Gabriella. Decided to drop and finish by guillotine just to prove she can grapple too.

Jose Delano's been hyped before but he actually made weight this time and demolished his opponent, moving to the finals of the FW title tournament where he'll fight another hype rankings stalwart in either Wellington Prado or Gabriel Santos.

Also another shout out to Murtaza Talha who took a fight at a catchweight and just utterly demolished his opponent again, beating him up and taking a rear naked choke. A big promotion needs to take a chance on him.

Regarding Talha, what's so good about him, then? I've seen him number 1 in your rankings for ages, with a smallish record, what's so good about him?

Being from Bahrain is weird as well! Surely be a solid prelim addition for UFC 280 in UAE?

He's just physically a beast, one of those dudes that's unreasonably strong. Guys seem confused when he starts grappling with them. He's 6-0 now with 6 finishes with 5 in the first round, everyone he's fought bar one guy has had a winning record when fighting him (combined 29-6). In addition to the pro record he was 12-0 as an ammy and a two time IMMAF champ, beat Anton Turkalj in the ammies too.

Certainly seems a very interesting prospect, like I said, if I was the UFC I'm signing him for the UAE card with one eye on holding a UFN card in Bahrain next year.

Pro-Wrestling is mostly a big man’s game. Phumi isn’t a big guy. also, not sure pro-wrestling is the route to take if you’re dealing with injuries as pro-wrestling is predetermined obviously, but it takes a toll on the body as you have to be involved in multiple matches per week and bump taking breaks the body.

Bruno is legit. He’s definitely major org. ready. If I was Coker, I’d try to sign him before Dana signs him up and if I’m dana, I sign him for the UFC and not for DWCS.

Yeah, DWCS will be off air for around 6 months now so if UFC want him, direct contract.

Australia doesn’t seem to be producing many prospects :(

Mateo Vogel just had a very violent finish in BFL. He still eats way too many shots but he's got an iron chin and his striking is much improved. He's also a legit black belt.

Interested to see how he does against better competition.

David Martinez

Country - Mexico
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : 23
Promotion - Combate Global
Team - Bonebreakers
Record : 9-1

We're back on the David Martinez hype train for another round. David was doing beautifully the first couple of rounds against the also good Axel Osuna, keeping beautiful range, putting his strikes together, mixing teeps with boxing combos and a nice variety of other kicks while barely getting touched. The in the 3rd round he zigged when he should have zagged and got dropped by a head kick. He then survived the onslaught, somehow survived getting his back taken and flattened out while still a bit rocked to survive the round to then come back, start wrestling more and finish his opponent in the next round by GNP.

When a prospect comes through that kind of adversity and finishes their man, it's a good sign that they're the real deal imo.

Lucas Fernando

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Middleweight
Age : 25
Promotion - LFA
Team - Refit Pro Fighters
Record : 8-1

I've been steadily impressed by Fernando on the LFA Brazil cards so far, but this one he really took it to the next level.

Fighting a decent standard of opponent in Bellator vet Fabio Aguiar, Lucas had to deal with an opponent trying to press him into the cage and take him down. Through a combination of solid single defence and good arm control he held himself up, before getting off the cage going into Pedro Rizzo (his coach) mode and just utterly murdering the dude with leg kicks, straight punches, a high kick and more straight punches, leaving Aguiar a crumpled mess on the mat.

Looked big show ready to me.

Not sure what to think of Gafurov after he lost to Chad in DWCS. He's a pretty good wrestler and is wild and powerful on the feet, but he needs to sharpen up his fundamentals.

Miguelito Grijalva who you have in your FW top 25 is fighting on this card as well.

Grigoriy/Shuaev II
Grigoriy won by a RNC in round 1. Relatively short fight that didn’t really tell us much as Grigoriy caught Shuaev early. I don’t speak Russian, but based on the post match antics it seemed like a rubber match is next.
