Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, former Trump loyalist, says she is resigning from Congress​


WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, a once-loyal supporter of President Donald Trump who has become a critic, said Friday she is resigning from Congress in January.

Greene, in a more than 10-minute video posted online, explained her decision and said she’s “always been despised in Washington, D.C., and just never fit in.”

Greene’s resignation followed a public fallout with Trump in recent months, as the congresswoman criticized him for his stance on files related to Jeffrey Epstein, along with foreign policy and health care.

Trump branded her a “traitor” and “wacky” and said he would endorse a challenger against her when she ran for reelection next year.


She said her last day would be Jan. 5, 2026.

The White House did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment Friday night.

Greene had been closely tied to the Republican president since she launched her political career in 2020.

The GOP has constantly elevated women to higher positions of authority - Jannette Rankin, Margaret Smith, Sandra Day O'Connor, Nancy Kassenbaum, Condoleezza Rice.

Your claim was that Democrats don't vote for women. I'd say her getting over 75,000,000 votes is a pretty "fenomenal" counterpoint, considering only one Democrat in history has received more. Or do Democrats not vote for men either?

If 2 republican candidates are the front runners then Dems will vote for the one they agree with more. So when women (anybody really) are getting elected it is by influence of both left and right

Two things i didn't say in one post, that's quite an achievment.
Never said they don't vote for women. I showed they are less inclined to vote for women, as the vote numbers shows.
I didn't respond to the statistics, because as i already responded to the other lib that can't read good, i didn't say democrats don't vote for women, only that republicans have nothing against putting women on ballots or voting for them.
You two would make an excellent pair on a reading comprehension class.

Those Republican women didnt win the party nomination without beating some men along the way.

More moderate/not far right conservatives will vote for women
