I had no problem with civil unions that offered ALL the same benefits as marriage, as soon as I learned that wasn't good enough for them, I knew they were trolling

Wrong, civil unions do not provide federal protections, such as federal tax, social security benefits, medical and life insurance. I'm sure there are others.

So YOU don't like people telling you what YOU can and cannot do but YOU have no problem telling GAY PEOPLE what THEY can and cannot do.

So, this whole entire thing is based off a gross sense of selfishness and entitlement?

They want the right to be able to get married. It's not about being able to get married in every church. It's about being able to get married in the churches that have no problem with marrying them.

The whole trolling accusation is embarrassing, honestly.

Gay people can get married the same as everyone else. they are not being denied anything at all. I am not ignorant of the world, I know that there are millions of racists who don't like me because im white. but im not gonna start fucking crying over it, I know that they don't like me so I stay away from them, unless of course, I was a little attention seeking bitch who took it upon himself to get in the faces of those that call me devil, cracker etc. go and try that gay marriage shit in Saudi Arabia, or Russia or one of the many other countries that don't accept it, this "Nazi" who just wants to keep marriage the way it is would seem like a great person next to them

No here is what they are doing:

They are wanting to redefine an institution that has existed for yonks
Marriage has meant lots of different things over whatever time period "yonks" corresponds to. If you want to use some traditional meaning of marriage, you're going to have to pick which one, by time and locale. There is no one definition of marriage. Moreover, marriage in the US is now a legal institution. Access to that legal institution and the protections it affords is what is in contention.

They are labelling people who don't agree with them as Nazi's or bigots.
It is bigotry, by definition.

They want to be married into an institution that opposes their lifestyle, even in the very building
Marriage is a legal construct. That's what this is about. It isn't about your religion. The catholic church, for example, doesn't recognize divorce, another legal issue.

They want to condemn people as being hateful for not subscribing to their methods of pleasuring themselves...how fucking selfish
I've met lots of gay people. None of them have ever condemned me for never having had nor intending to ever have gay sex. This part of your post is simply moronic.

They are operating under the banner of "inclusiveness, and equality", but cant accept that other people have opposing beliefs
Why should they accept being denied equal legal protections?

these people are trolls, wasn't there an attempted "gay pride" march to fuck with people celebrating st patricks day recently?, that right there is trolling. I cant wait til they eventually get their own way, just to see what they want to rally against next. people like that always just have to be in some shit (pun not intended)
Any march was in response to the deliberate exclusion of gay groups from said parade. Why shouldn't they take part in a St. Patrick's Day parade? Are there no gay Micks? St Paddys really isn't about the actual saint you know.

Oh no, someone is being criticized for their opinion!

The same thing would happen if someone said they believed marriage was between 2 people of the same race or that marriage doesn't require a woman's consent or that the front of the bus is for white people or any number of other things.

What a shocker that "group X is inferior to group Y and shouldn't be treated the same" would be something that would cause people to object.

just a heads up, I wont respond to anything that is so brainless, keep race out of it please, fight your own fight and stop trying to hijack more important and noble causes, cheers

You know this isn't true.

I know that there are millions of racists who don't like me because im white. but im not gonna start fucking crying over it

Of course you're not. Those people aren't restricting your actions or giving themselves benefits that you don't get.

Gay people in my country and your country

I don't think it's gay people so much as political groups. I'm sure a lot of gay people don't like all the politics.

Most of the people who fanatically fight for gay marriage aren't gay.

Gay people in my country and your country

You'll have to provide some examples. Can you name some gay rights advocacy groups that are pushing for legislation to force churches to marry them?

No. They can't. They can't because people like the Mozilla CEO is giving money to support legislature to prevent them from getting married.
I shouldn't have to explain what this 35-page thread is about to you.

So, you have no problem with a black guy calling you a white devil, you'd stay away, but the MOMENT a priest tells you that you can't live with your girlfriend, you'd tell him to fuck off.

Your story has more twist and turns than Lombard Street. Given the conversation, I'd figure you'd keep your story "straight" y'know.

Again, who cares how gay marriage is done in Saudi Arabia and Russia? Should women in the 1800s say "oh, who cares about having the right to vote or own property, at least I don't live in Saudi Arabia!!!"
For someone who is so angry about people bringing up race, you sure bring up a lot of stupid strawman shit.

haha, I would do the same. a couple of years back I done some bible studies with JW's.... very strange people indeed

The problem with religious views, is they all exclude anyone who is not a part of those same views and set rules for those who are. If your not part your an infidel, or a sinner or unclean or whatever. If you're a part of the same views, then not bacon or no beer or cant eat this on that day or gays are against god's wishes.

I wouldnt be happy to live anywhere were religion decides what I'm allowed do. The problem is its everywhere and has a hold over people. Shit all I need do is look at the race for president of the US. Can't vote for him, he's a member of the other religious group or worse again he's an atheist.

So dochter, is it hateful to not allow kids of different sexes to share bathrooms together?

is it hateful to refuse someone service for not wearing a shirt?

is it hateful to not want to have the worst athlete on your team because of their inability to score a goal?

is it hateful that I wont let my daughter date someone who is a fully grown man twice her age who does drugs?

is any of that above bigotry?

But if they did, you would have no problem with it?, I know I wouldnt

They don't, so what's your point? That's why they are not equivalent, from a legal perspective, to marriage.

It seems like you just want a separate title for gays for the sake of it (you seemingly want them to have all the same benefits). Why is that?

*bitches about people bringing in race and gender in arguments about marriage*
*lists four completely separate strawmen for dochter to respond to*

Gay people in my country and your country
Churches aren't going to be forced to officiate gay weddings if they don't want to, just like no one is forcing the catholic church to recognize divorces. Now, if a church normally rents out its facilities to the general public but now wants to deny that access to gays, there might be an issue. That is a very different scenario though.

From my perspective there are two major issues that gays should (and do) focus on:
1) Federal recognition as a protected class a la gender, race, and religion. This would prevent legal discrimination on the basis of sexuality.
2) Federal and state legalization/recognition of marriage.

Those don't look like bigotry to me. They do look totally irrelevant to the discussion.

I've been saying this for a while but anti-gay somehow became the new anti-semitic

You know this isn't true.

yes they are, they don't want me in their pubs, they don't want me to date their sisters, daughters etc. some of those racist shit bags would KILL me because the colour of my skin if they knew they could get away with it.

You'll have to provide some examples. Can you name some gay rights advocacy groups that are pushing for legislation to force churches to marry them?

there are many more examples so a swing and a miss from you on that one

Jukai, me telling someone to "fuck off" is not a rare occurrence, and I would take that as an act of disrespect from the priest if he done that, I wouldn't want him to change his views, they are his own, but keep them to yourself damnit!

I'm not hijacking any cause. I'm showing that you're being inconsistent.
