Probably but the UFC is trying to get him beat before he gets a title shot & becomes the next Belal / Merab style champ lol.
I think they're trying to get Pico in the mix of a title shot or at least see where he stands with the dogs of 145 in the UFC.

I think Movsar is just going to drown him. Pico is an excellent wrestler but his ground game isn't there. They are fighting at the Apex. It might be an advantage for either men.

His winstreak is a bit jenky. He is the crusher of prelim level fighters. It is hard to tell if he is technically improving or he is crushing subpar opponents. Pico just down bites on his mouthpiece and throws as hard as he can. Not much has changed in his style. I don't like Movsar but he clearly has a game plan. He isn't going to entertain the brawl with Pico.

It's the likely outcome, but Pico has all the skills to make it a hard fight. Evleov most likely will just try and wrestle him, but he has a tendency to freeze up a bit with super aggressive fighters.
Remember Lopes arguably beat him in their fight whilst being outwrestled simply by just attacking all fight.

Pico might do enough on the feet before ultimately getting taken down to take rounds. Plus he isn;t just going to settle there.
It might work out well because Pico might throw caution to the wind and Evleov can finally showcase some sort of finishing instinct.

Good match up to be honest.

30-27, 29-28, 29-28 Unanimous Decision.
Come now. You've been around long enough to know that the scores of a fight and it being a UD don't tell the story of what happened.

Which of these fights were closer and more competitive? Sandhagen/Vera or Jones/Reyes?

This is demonstrably not true.

Okay now post the fan scoring.

What's demonstrably true is that Evloev was repeatedly placed in submission danger throughout 15 minutes, got hit by clean shots, and arguably got saved by the bell. There is nothing in that which suggests "casually shutting down someone's game".

Evloev rightfully won, but it was not some dominant affair that he executed with ease.

Again this was a UD on all 3 cards and a complete sweep in all media scores. Nothing to see here.

See above.

Sterling and Allen both had good, competitive fights they lost. This is exactly what I mean when saying Mosvar is fighting - the best fighters in the world - and winning every time.

Allen should have won IMO, but that's beside the point. I'm not doubting Evloev's skill or merit. I'm just saying that he isn't looking dominant and unbeatable out there and indeed all of his recent fights have been fairly arduous affairs.

To the point that Volk is fighting for a fake belt, because of the outright absurdity that Mosvar isn't the person fighting.

I actually agree with this wholeheartedly.

Tough I guess. Pico has fought jabronis. I have a doubt stepping up to top 10 competition at this point in his career would be an easy transition, but against the #1 guy? Don't see it.

Like I said, I am picking Evloev because experience at the top of the heap matters. But I don't think it's off-base to assert that styles make fights and Evloev hasn't made his wins look especially easy.

This match up makes no sense. The UFC really hates Movsar.

Pico is a good fighter, but not world class.

They obviously are cheating Movsar out of his rightfully earned title shot.

But if he's not fighting for the title, this is basically a layup they are giving up.

So has this actually been confirmed? Haven't heard anything from Ariel, Marcel or any reputable sources.

I'm gonna go with Evloev on this one against Eric Silva, i mean, Aaron Pico.

More shit matchmaking. Killing off one of the two interesting contenders. Meanwhile Yair gets washed pitbull

Just updated the main post with an update. Maybe UFC will try to make him fight Pico anyways and not allow him to wait lol.

Sucks Evloev is getting the Jon Fitch treatment. 9 fight UFC win streak with no TS is rough but Pico is an intriguing match up for sure. I don't think Pico has ever been outwrestled in MMA and he has a better wrestling pedigree than Movsar. On paper, dude had the GOAT pedigree for an MMA prospect and he's now a seasoned fighter so time to shit or get off the pot. Excited to see how he matches up with the big dogs.

Edit: just saw the OP update. Can't blame Evloev for waiting - he's earned his TS. Will be following whoever Pico debuts against with interest.

He deleted this I guess? Can't fault him for waiting but kind of dumb to also post this and then turn down Pico when offered him.
edit: tweet is up, computer was being dumb

Movsar Evloev vs. Aaron Pico is not happening according to the russian media outlet Red Fury MMA.Evloev's team said that they want to wait for the outcome of Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes title fight at UFC 314.

Bad move. Evloev needs activity. What if the winner needs 6 months off after this fight? That puts Evloev on the shelf for 10 months. I guess this dude has enough alternate sources of income?

Dana will use that as an excuse to punish Movsar.
he might. lopes and volk both said movsar is next tho. dana would have to offer them up someone BIG to go back on their word
