Wes Ball Reveals Visually Stunning Test Footage for Scrapped MOUSE GUARD

Director Wes Ball: "The following is a collection of tests that explore the visual potential of a Mouse Guard movie. Everything you see here is rendered in realtime using Epic's UNREAL ENGINE. Basically what you're watching is very good looking previz, with environments capable of streaming live to stage during motion capture with our actors. While the visual quality is impressive, it's important to note this is only meant to illustrate how the movie will 'feel' not how it will 'look'. Everything will ultimately be sent to WETA Digital to be recreated with cutting-age photorealistic CG. This was made from scratch in about 12 weeks with a relatively small team. Credit goes to our team at Halon (led by Casey Pyke) and Fox VFX labs (led by Glenn Derry) Thanks for watching y'all!"

First Official Behind-the-Scenes Look at Cary Fukunaga's BOND 25

Check out a behind the scenes look at our recent Caribbean Bond 25 filming that shows director Cary Fukunaga at work and Daniel Craig (James Bond 007), Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter) and Lashana Lynch (Nomi) on set!

Looks like a bit of a return to the grimier settings of the first couple of Craig Bonds.

Looks like a bit of a return to the grimier settings of the first couple of Craig Bonds.

That whole behind the scenes video could be just a scene or 2 in the opening act, not representative of the whole film.

Think Skyfall, when Bond was hanging out 'dead' in that tropical paradise playing scorpion drinking games.

The synopsis indicates Rami Malek's baddie having a sophisticated new weapon.

Probably will be a blend of old and new tropes.

THE UNTOUCHABLES Actor Billy Drago Dies at 73

N4zyY4K.jpg

Billy Drago, best known for his work playing Al Capone's top henchman in The Untouchables, died Monday in Los Angeles, his rep told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 73.

Drago appeared in numerous films and TV shows over the years, including X-Files and Charmed, but he was most recognized for portraying real-life mobster Frank Nitti (always wearing a white suit) in the Brian De Palma 1987 classic.

At the time, THR's review of The Untouchables noted, "Also deserving praise on the bad guy's side is Billy Drago as the psycho, trigger-happy Frank Nitti — his mean and vicious glint is razor sharp." The character had a memorable rooftop demise at the hands of Eliot Ness, who was played by Kevin Costner.

Drago's career spanned four decades, and he appeared in over 100 films, including Clint Eastwood's classic Western Pale Rider (1985).

Drago was born in Hugoton, Kansas, to William Eugene Burrows Sr. and Gladys Marie Wilcox.

A journalist for the Associated Press in his younger years, Drago became a fixture on Kansas radio, which led to him hosting his own highly rated program.

Drago's road to Hollywood was paved after a stint with a touring theater group, along with acclaimed performances in New York City.

The actor is remembered as a fearless artist and poet who tackled his work with intensity and pushed creative boundaries while encouraging his peers and those new to the business. He enjoyed traveling across the globe, from Indonesia to Israel.

Drago was married for a time to actress Silvana Gallardo, with whom he worked on numerous projects.

He is survived by his sister Patty, brother Steve and his two sons, actor Darren Burrows and Derrick Burrows, as well as several grandchildren.

This looks like a larger scene than the one at the bar with the scorpion and the actors/characters involved make me think its more than an opening section.

The main unknown I spose is what they do with Seyduex's character Swan. Carrying over a Bond girl at all(although of course Vespa remains a plot point in the Craig sequels) is new for the series and typically in this kind of film it would mean she gets "fridged" to kick off the plot. Hints seem to suggest this isn't the case here and I thought along with her dad she was the best thing in Spectre, Seyduex can really play cold and threatening very well.

Paul Rudd is answering the call. The actor is in talks to star in Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters movie, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Rudd will play a small town teacher in the film, which is a continuation of the franchise that started with 1984's Ghostbusters and spawned a 1989 sequel. The 2016 reboot won't factor into the new movie.

The official Ghostbusters Twitter account posted a video of Rudd discussing the project, with the actor joking that when he heard he was going to get the call, "I nearly slimed myself."

"I can't wait to join the cast this fall for Ghostbusters. In fact I'm sliming myself right now," added Rudd.

"I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance. Thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe," Reitman said in a statement.

The director co-wrote the script with Gil Kenan. Ivan Reitman, Jason Reitman's father and director of the 1984 Ghostbusters, will produce. Sony has dated the new Ghostbusters for July 10, 2020.

Rudd is coming off his role as Ant-Man in Avengers: Endgame, which currently stands as the No. 2 film of all time globally with $2.75 billion and is back in theaters this weekend. The actor has the Netflix limited series Living With Yourself debuting in the fall.

That's not a bad addition.

I can say I don't like Melissa McCarthy, wish her career would just die, and never be heard from again.

But when I saw this, I thought 'Wow, that'd be a very very good casting.'

One thing about McCarthy I do appreciate is she's actually does have an interesting on-screen charisma. Add that to an live-action adaptation of an animated character, who's also fat, I bet this could actually be a hell of a performance that would be worth watching.

Andy Muschietti Replaces John Frances Daley and Jonathan Goldestein as THE FLASH Director

3Nd7lgN.jpg

Warner Bros.’ Flash movie project has been jolted by lighting. Andy Muschietti, the filmmaker behind the hit Stephen King adaptation It and the upcoming It: Chapter Two, is in talks to direct the action-adventure project based on the DC Comics superhero. His partner and sister, Barbara Muschietti, will produce, joining Michael Disco on the project.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who wrote drafts of the script and were slated to helm the project, have moved on. However, Ezra Miller, the actor who has long been attached to star as the fleet-footed hero, remains on board to star.

But in a further development, the studio won’t be moving forward with the script Miller co-wrote with comics author Grant Morrison. Instead, Warners will hire Christina Hodson, the scribe behind Bumblebee and the studio's upcoming DC movie, the Margot Robbie-fronted Birds of Prey, to tackle the script. The goal is to be in prep by January.

Dealmaking has not yet begun, stress insiders. Official offers are expected to go out shortly.

Goldstein and Daley’s exit is described as voluntarily, according to multiple sources. The pair have been with the project since January 2018, writing the script and developing it to direct. At one point, the project seemed like it was heading toward a start date in late 2019. But months of tensions over creative differences bogged down the project, with the duo deciding it was time to move on and find new opportunities.

The tensions surfaced around what kind of take was the best fit for a Flash movie. Miller, who has played the character since 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, favored a darker approach, while Goldstein and Daley, the pair who wrote Spider-Man: Homecoming and were behind the comedy hit Game Night, wanted the opposite.

The two sides have been working on compromises since last year, but Miller then made the unusual move to take it upon himself to pen his own script, enlisting the aid of comics superstar Morrison. That script was submitted to the studio in March. By May, the studio rejected his approach, but concluded that Miller should still remain the Scarlet Speedster.

Muschietti hails from the horror world and made his feature debut with Mama, the 2013 thriller that starred Jessica Chastain. His adaptation of It, released in 2017, was a critical and commercial hit, making over $700 million worldwide. Warners is high on the sequel, with the title being the only movie the studio will be showcasing at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. With Muschietti being chosen for Flash, the studio is clearly pleased with the filmmaker, too.

If a deal is made, Muschietti will be the latest horror filmmaker to cross over to directing a DC movie after going through the trenches of sister division New Line. James Wan directed Aquaman, a billion dollar hit, while David Sandberg, who directed Annabelle: Creation and Lights Out, made the most recent DC hit, Shazam! Jaume Collet-Serra, who got his start with movies such as House of Wax and Orphan, is attached to helm Black Adam.

Grown-ish Star Halle Bailey to Play Ariel in Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID Live-Action Remake

uP7JiiO.jpg

Singer-actress Halle Bailey will be part of Disney's world. Bailey, who with her sister forms R&B duo Chloe x Halle, has nabbed the starring role in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, and will play the role of Ariel, the rebellious daughter of King Triton who longs to live on dry land.

The decision was made today, with the budding actress notified later Wednesday morning.

Mermaid is casting up, with Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina in talks to star and lend their voices to other live-action and CG parts.

Rob Marshall is set to direct, after helming the studio's sequel to Mary Poppins, Mary Poppins Returns.

"After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” said Marshall in a statement.

An early 2020 production start is being planned.

Ron Clements and John Musker were behind the animated 1989 original, which won best original song and score Oscars for Alan Menken. For the new iteration of the fairy tale, Menken will team with Lin-Manuel Miranda on the music.

Marc Platt, who worked with Marshall on Mary Poppins Returns and exec produced Guy Ritchie's live-action Aladdin remake, is producing. Marshall and John DeLuca are also producers Mermaid, as is Miranda.

Bailey, 19, is best known as one-half of Chloe x Halle, who signed to Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment label after gaining popularity with YouTube covers. The Little Mermaid would be a breakout role for Bailey, whose only other screen credit is as a supporting player on Freeform's Yara Shahidi series Grown-ish.

Nothing against Halle, I just don't think this translates well to live action.
