Mouthpiece Suggestions

i dont see as having a single as having less protection. but thats your call. i would go with a single. the brain pad i have is a double and its a pain. it falls out and doesnt stay in place very well.

If your willing to pay the money for a custom mouthguard(I'd recommend it) then I'd personally recommend a Starsguard. I just got mine about a week ago and a review should be incoming.

i would post up a review for mine but i cant figure out how to get pics up and i think everyone has said everything and then some about stars guards. bottom line they have amazing customer service, and great guards, jeff treats his customers just like they were one of the guys who are sponsored by him. and i dont think its taken him more then a day to get back to me in some way. he would even answer my messages on here and messages i sent him on myspace.
if you dont go with stars guards your making a bad decision

Custom guards is looking like a good company. They offer pro guards (mma, boxing, heavy contact stuff) or just a custom mouth guards (which would be good for straight bjj, grappling). Which are less than half the price of the pro guards. Which is nice because most people dont necassary need the pro mouth guard especially if there just doing bjj and not taking punhces and kicks to the face. customguards.net

A dual should only be used by stand up (boxers primarily). Any one can obviously use one but why? It restricts your breathing and causes you to open your mouth more than you would with a single. Really not worth the money or the aggravation. This is coming from a professional stand point.

if you value your teeth, there's only one way to go

starsguards.com!

tell Jeff Anthony sent you, he'll take good care of you!

Has anyone ordered from Customguards.net? Couldn't find a thread on it.

I am new to Sherdog and to answer your question there are a few individuals that should post a thread in the next week or so in reference to the quality and customer service they have received from myself. I have asked them to be completely honest on the workmanship as well as the treatment they have received from Custom Guards. Jeff from Stars is a great guy and in fact we had an email conversation today. I look forward to picking to speaking with anyone who is part of Sherdog or whom ever should be in the Colorado area either training or fighting. I am a fighter with no record yet and my passion is producing a great quality mouth guard for the fighters and grapplers. I am here to support the sport which I truly enjoy competing in. I grapple and train consistently so I know what the demands are and I am always trying new techniques in order to get a superior product out to you guys. This is just a snap shot of myself and my company, you guys are the ultimate deciding factor I believe the two options out there are myself and Jeff (StarsGuards) especially for the price we are offering. If you have any question please email me at [email protected] or visit my website at www.customguards.net . Take care and protect yourself.

How or where do you get customs? I have had a shitty boil and bite for awhile and lost it and am looking for a new one.

I recently just received my gladiator custom mouthguard this afternoon. My first impressions when looking at it, is that it is much better looking than a boil and bite and it was surprisingly light.

After wearing the mouthguard for the first time, I am very happy with the decision to go to a custom. It fits much more snug and I believe it will definitely help me with my breathing during training and actual fights. They also send you your custom made model and if you want to reorder a replacement guard or another style and color, they give you 50% off. I had messed up my impression on the first try and they gladly sent me another kit . I can truly say they have great service and are there for their customers.

I ordered the pro model and it came out to $65 with S&H. Here are some pics of the guard.

I can't see any reason to buy a boil and bite when you can get a really nice custom guard from customguards.com for $50

I'm using a Shock Doctor power double which I like. I've never had a custom guard, but used a plethora of other boil n bites for football and I like the double much better. I like the breathing channel in the middle because I can clamp my jaw shut and still breath good. It stays in place pretty good even if my jaw is hanging, but I haven't taken a good shot with my mouth open yet. Would love to buy a custom, but most that are rated for full contact cost between $100-150 and I'm nowhere near good enough to be spending that kind of money yet

You can get one for Heavy contact from customguards for $50 plus shipping. THey have an even thicker one for $75, but it's actually too thick.

According to the site, the $50 price is only for a second guard, and the semipro isn't recommended for full contact sparring, only the pro and elite are and they start at $140.

No, according to the site the Pro is $50 for the first one. Replacements are $25. The pro is rated for all sports from non-heavy contact.

The Elite is $75 for the first, and $37 for replacements. I have one of each. The Elite is way too thick IMO.

There isn't a $140 mouthguard on their entire site. What site are you looking at? I'm talking about the Gladiator guards on Customguards.com
