I am looking/shopping around for a new mouthpiece and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good one.My last one was a simple everlast one that was fairly inexpensive (about 3 bucks)and was looking for a better type. I was looking into the Brain Pad brand because it seems those are best for breathing with the mouth still closed and supposedly have better overall jaw and skull protection...suggestions!?!?!

i have a brain pad and it sucks. if you have the cash go with a custom guard like stars guards. is most def worth the money. i have both and i cant stand to wear my brain pad now

Brain pads suck X2! Every time you do open your mouth it will fall out. Get the custom it is definitely worth it.

I have a ShockDoctor and it's okay. I'm currently in the process of getting a Stars Guard though.

I've used a BrainPad bnb for over a year, and it's pretty good for a bnb. It does slip out if you open your mouth as they've said above, but it hasn't been too big of a problem for me.

If you can get a custom mouthguard though, that would be a lot better. I'm in the process of getting one as well.

stars guard man, mine is on my way to me, i have a thread with pics

my first guard was a shock doctor gel fit, it fit and stayed in well but was big and bulky. then i used a shock doctor gravity, that goes on your bottom teeth. that worked well for grappling
but not so much for standup. then i went to the dentist for a check up and cleaning, and asked them about guards. they were $45 and came in about 8 differant colors. and some multi colored. i got a red white and blue one, there is nothing like it. they make a mold of my teeth and 5 days later it was in. it stays in awsome and you breeth and talk like normal. the best part was that my insurance payed 80%. i will NEVER go back to boil and bites. don't waste your money, go and get fit for one

I use a shock doctor currently, and I'm not a big fan. I ordered a starsguard, and I'll hopefully have it soon.

Shock Doctor makes some of the best boil and bite mouth guards

if you have the money go with a stars guard custom. boil and bites are pretty much a waste of money. and the protection with a custom is going to be way better then with the bnb

Thanks for all the suggestions! Looks like custom is the way to go! Im going to schedule a dentist appointment to get a custom fitted mouthpiece!

For less than what you can pay a dentist either myself or Stars Guards can do the same thing for less. You can check out my web site at www.customguards.net I will send you out a packet with simple instructions and then send it back to me a dentist will charge you an arm and a leg for the same thing.

go to your dentist/orthodonist (whatever) and get them to make you one. When and if you do get it done, ask to keep your mold that way if you lose your mouthpiece you can take them the mold and they cant charge you for another molding fee. Plus i dont know anyone who trully enjoys making a mold, so you only have to do it once.

mine would have been $45. since then 2 people at my gym have gone to their dentist to get one. one was $45 and the other was $50. they didn't go for check up or other work, just to get a guard made. they love their's. it doesn't matter were you get one, if your going to train for awhile, customs of any sort are the way to go.

Since i currently cant get a custom, anyone have experience with this shock docter piece?

they are good. ive used a shock doctor in every other sport ive done and they are good for a bnb guard. dont go with a brain pad they dont stay in your mouth and even though they have a channel that you are able to breath through it still makes breathing through your mouth pretty hard.

hey i got a question since you have used this brand before, is it better to have a double mouthguard and have bad breathing or have a single mouthguard and have less protection and better breathing?
