Hey guys, so I it's almost summer, and I'm looking to get a motorcycle. Any good suggestions from the riders on sherdog? My knowledge of bikes is limited, and I am looking for a cruiser. I am looking to spend up to 15k.

Any previous experience? Do you know basics of how to ride?

If its a cruiser you're after then nothing really matters. Go... Be....

If it wasn't a cruiser, I was thinking GSXR, but not too sure

Something fast and loud. Also make sure to swerve in between cars on the road and then get mad at them when they call you an asshole.

You sound like abit of noob which has me worried... Is this your first ever motorcycle youre looking to buy?

be sure to lane split. be offended when people change lanes whilst you are lane splitting and accuse them of trying to get you to crash.

I wouldn't recommend a litre bike for learning on, and I wouldn't recommend a cruiser at all... :icon_lol:

Something mid size maybe 600 CC or so depending on the biked.

Used and fairly cheep for a first bike.

Ride it until you have a educated idea of what you want then sell that bike and get the one you find you want.

When you're talking cruisers there's only a few decisions to make.

What's more important to you? That it's comfortable, or that it looks cool? Don't be ashamed if your answer is that it looks cool. Chicks dig nice bikes.

How important is brand to you? If you want to be accepted by nearly all bikers, then you will want a Harley. If this is not important to you, then all the japanese cruisers are superior.

I have driven without a license in India for a year, when I lived there. I am taking a course right now for learning.

Good that was going to be my suggestion. I grew up on dirt bikes and thought that experience would be enough. Not even close. I learned things in my riding course that have absolutely saved me from accidents and were nothing like what I knew from riding dirt bikes.

That's a very different bike from a cruiser. It sounds like you need to decide on what kind of riding you want to do.

I started on a cruiser and got bored. You're essentially going up and down the highway just like a car. They're really only good if you're going to take long trips, or if you're really into the "biker" scene and want a badass looking machine.

If you want something that's really fun to ride, then you need something that handles better than a cruiser. The GSXR and other rice rockets will be fun for you if you're into straight line speed. It can be fun if you have the right windy roads in your area, but this is also how riders die.

There is a 3rd option, which when I have time to ride again, I think I'm going to get. It's an adventure bike. It will give me versatility, so I can zip around on city streets and have fun, and when I get sick of that, I can zip around in the dirt too, but it's also comfortable enough to commute. Like this:

Solid advice.
I don't think a year of riding bikes in India (I'm assuming it was the typical Hero or Bajaj style bikes) is really going to allow you to explore what sort of bikes/riding you prefer.
The fact that you're tossing up between a cruiser and a gixxer kinda confirms that.
Hopefully you've got a few mates with bikes who'll let you ride them to expand your experience.
All assuming you do actually enjoy riding and aren't just after a fashion accessory...
