Most overrated acting performance of all time

There definitely been Oscars that have been given to the person that got it, however didn't deserve it. (For example Sean Penn for Milk didn't deserve that Oscar imo it should been Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler.) But it's few and far between. Most of the time they are correct with the choices and Heath Ledger was one of those ones that they got right.

But it's obvious you don't like his performance or probably Heath Ledger even. Which all the power to you. Whatever floats your boat.

Btw I actually loved the PSH performance in Doubt. I think it's probably his best up there with Capote and The Master. If Heath performance didn't exist, Hoffman should have won.

I think the Oscars reward the wrong winners the vast majority of the time, therefore they are not a good metric for a great acting performance.

Heath's Joker was good, impressive at first view, but when you watch the other competitors, it was not the best. He won because he died.

You’re basically agreeing with me I think? He did all this stuff along with creating this super dark/serious environment but left it largely devoid of any blood/gore, nudity, cussing, etc. Why? So he could get PG-13’s.
I'm kinda in between you two I think.

There's an aspect of me that agrees the lack of swearing, blood/gore and nudity allows it to be PG-13 but also a part of me that agrees burning Lau alive is really border-ing on the R rating for the "intense violence" aspect of it.

I'll admit it's been over a decade since I saw Silence of the Lambs but it's rated R and only truly has 1 real massive incident of on-screen violence that I can fully remember.

Did you think Rami Malek deserved the Oscar for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody? Or Gary Oldman for the Darkest Hour or even Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea?

These are the 3 oscars winners in these past 3 years. Were they deserving?

And btw who should have won the Oscar that year if not Heath?

No, they are not. They aren't even the best performances by each of those actors.
Oh stop. Ledger never did anything like the Joker, and don’t give me the gay cowboy movie. Brando’s Godfather performance is his crowning jewel. Daniel Day Lewis always puts on a show so with him it’s just a matter of taste. Hopkins Lecter was amazing. Only one I could agree with is Hanks, but to say his Gump wasn’t a great performance is just silly.

I don’t think Nolan has his way with the MPAA at all. Did you ever notice it has hardly any blood, gore, nudity, or cussing in it. Just because a movie is “intense” doesn’t mean it deserves an R. In fact Nolan’s Batman trilogy kinda feels neutered to me because he tried to go all super dark and serious yet had to leave the aforementioned stuff out to achieve PG-13 ratings. Jaws is an intense and brutal movie especially in 1975 and it didn’t get an R and it actually has cussing, brief nudity, and blood/gore in it.

His own people say he gets his way. Check out what his cinematographer says in screen rant. And if you ask me, the violence is done in a way that I wouldn’t want a kid watching it. Don’t even think little kids that saw it even enjoyed it.

The only movie nominated for best actor I saw in the last three years was Captain Fantastic, so I can't judge. I can judge before that much better. But I think the Oscars are a joke in general, mainly in the best movie and best director categories.

But that specific year, 2008, I saw Milk, TDK, Tropic Thunder and Doubt, and Heath was the worse, though not bad. That year was very competitive. PSH should have won. RDJ a close second.

Heath's Joker is his best performance, but it's overrated and he is not a legendary actor like the other ones on that list, so he is ignored.

The others, their best performance is a matter of opinion.

Shrug. None of the films in Nolan’s Batman trilogy strike me as “R” type of movies. Like I said earlier his vision actually feels neutered to me because he’s constantly hopping around in some kind of purgatory between PG-13 and R the whole time.

Call me desensitized because I was never not allowed to watch R movies so I watched classics like Alien, The Terminator, Halloween, etc. all by the time I was 9 but those are just my thoughts.

Booyah!
Never underrated.

LMAO. This performance is so ridiculous Ryan O'Neal wanted to sue the production company for ever releasing this shitty movie. Like George Lucas that wanted to erase the Star Wars XMas Special from existence.

They should've sued him!

Most of the stuff from Leonardo DiCaprio.

“It won an Oscar”

If you think it was an all time great performance, fine. I don’t even think it necessarily makes you simple. It’s a nice shiny performance that catches your eye easily when you are a teenage boy. When you grow up you’ll probably develop more mature tastes.

It would be amazing to see someone say this to Michael Caine, Christian Bale and Gary Oldman every time they praise Ledgers performance.

"Dude, Gary. You're not as sophisticated as I am to appreciate good acting duurrrrrrrr"

You have an uncanny power to infect every thread you enter with dumbass, shallow opinions...

Tbh it's possible see fingers likely touched eyes first before slide down on mouth, and it was a blatant eye-poke attempt while at it

I got my retina scratched once and had to go to the ER. My ex-gf was messing around with my plastic nunchaku and the link broke. Hit me right in the eye. @Bacco

Ledger played Ned Kelly and it was much better acting than his Joker role.
Gump is the worst acting performance of Hanks career imo. Whether or not it was intended to be silly, it's like calling Jim Carrey in dumb and dumber a great performance.
