Multiplat Most Anticipated Games of 2026

So I take it this means the remakes are very faithful? Do you have more hype for Final Fantasy Remake part 3? They’ve made many changes , so much so that I actually look forward to it more than anything else at the moment. Going to be bittersweet when it finally releases hopefully in 2027. On one hand super hyped to see how it all ends but on the other it will feel weird not having more to look forward to. Exactly why I’m hoping we get news of a FFIX remake although with that I do hope it’s just one big game if they make it
Very faithful to the original. It’s basically just a graphics update. The story is the same.

I can’t wait for FF7-3. Remake was incredible and one of the best games I played last gen. Might even be on my top ten for the gen.

Rebirth wasn’t as focused and to bloated. Felt like the story wasn’t really moving at all. I hope they reign in 3 and get rid of all that bloat. If they want to leave it in as side content that’s fine. I hope 9 is next also. I never got to play it and I’ve always loved the way it looks.

Squares really struggling right now. Imo it would be in their best interest to start remaking the games people loved from them like capcom did.

Trails in the Sky Part 2 is arguably the best game in the series (I won't argue that, but a lot do). So I am pumped for it. And the Trails into the Horizon on a month. I played the Japanese with fan subs, and it was great. Looking forward to an official release.

I am a simple man sometimes.

Very excited for it but hard to be hyped when I know the story. If it wasn’t for that it would be #1.

There is beyond the horizon releasing in January though which I’m very hyped for and forgot to add.
I'm so glad you guys made these posts. I thought you were referring to the Trails games that never got a proper western release, like Trails from Zero?

I had no idea they remade the OG. I was playing the sequel (FC) and Trails of Cold Steel 2 on my Vita. I think I had to jailbreak my Vita for FC, but that may have been for the first one. Anyway, I lost my Vita at the hospital like 8 or 10 years ago. I had so many damn games on it, and in the case, but mainly my save files for both games.

I had about a dozen hours in FC, but it was slow, so I booted up Cold Steel 2 and put another dozen or so hours into that. I was heavily preferring Cold Steel, but heard how great FC gets later on. I was really looking forward to going back to it before losing it.

I like to think some sick kid found it and is still having a blast.

I just tried out the Demo for the first Trails in the Sky remake on Steam, it's so gorgeous. I've never seen any Nihom game look this good, and I'll have the sequel to look forward to in August. What a pleasant surprise!

Now that all the Cold Steel games are on Steam, I've been waiting for strong sales to gobble them all up. They would be perfect on the Deck!

Just Saros and Wolverine for me, nothing else is taking my interest at the minute

As of next month all of the games will be translated and in English, and for the first time, we will be completely caught up with Japan.

They released both Trails from Zero and Azure a few years ago.

From what it sounds like, they are going to give Azure and Zero the full remake treatment as well, though they did not sound certain about Sky 3 (was kind of a different game story wise from the rest of the series).

All of the games play great on the deck, and yeah, they are perfect for relaxed gaming time. I just finally got the platinum for Cold Steel 2 using it.

There is one last game in the current arc, though they have not announced it yet, and then it sounds like one final arc to wrap things up. The latest game, Trails Beyond the Horizon is the best looking one they have made, and the gameplay is the best its been, so I am really impatient for the final game in the arc.

Thx man, some great freaking news! I guess they are using that beyond Horizon engine for the trails in the sky remakes? It's beautiful stuff regardless.

I really loved the Cold Steel games I played, I just didn't want to play Cold Steel 2 on a console, or restart it all over again so soon. I didn't want to buy another Vita again either.

I've been meaning to pick up Cold Steel 2 again for my Deck. I always get a bunch of Steam cards for Christmas, so I'l ldef grab a few with their Xmas sales. I pretty much forgot everything so it will be easy to restart now.

I hear you don't really need to play the Trails in the Sky trilogy until Cold Steel 2, would you say that's true?

So without spoiling anything (god there is so much to spoil), The First two Trails in the Sky games have major plot points for Cold Steel 3 onward. As do Trails from Zero and Azure. Azure and Cold Steel 2 kind of happen at the same time, just in different countries. It is not necessary to do them before CS3 and 4, but it definitely makes everything a lot more impactful, especially 4. And Reverie (which is kind of the epilogue to the Cold Steel and Azure games) it is almost required.

The first Daybreak game is kind of the same way. Can absolutely play it without previous games, but there are a few character and story points that flesh out if you play the older games first.

Trails into the Horizon you definitely need the earlier games, even Trails in the Sky the 3rd, which can be mostly ignored otherwise, except for one major backstory part on the only character to appear in every arc, though her stuff is also explained in great detail later.

Sweet Thx! I just fired up Cold Steel 1, forgot I had it on the Deck as well. It's been ages since I played it. I can play that and Cold Steel 2, plus the zero and Azure while waiting the 2nd Trails in the sky remake.

I was looking at Zero and Azure, love the graphics. Are they making those with English voices too? I always prefer a dub, but with pixel games I'm fine with mainly text.

Sadly no, the voice acting is Japanese. Mostly non voiced though

They'll be perfect Steam Deck games then! I like juggling games, one on my desktop, and the other on my Deck, especially work/toilet breaks lol

Thx for the help man!!

Sky the third is the only one I didn’t play. So I’m hoping they do remake it.

GTA 6
Wolverine
Nioh 3
Tomb Raider

It is such a weird one. It is pretty much all about Kevin, and it is like Trails into Reverie, but if the entire game took place in the reverie corridor.

Yea I looked into it and decided to just watch the scenes people recommended.

Hmm, if I had to rank them.

1. GTA VI: I've been going down to many hype rabbit holes for this game. From everything I've seen, this seems like a game that will redefine what open worlds and NPCs should be. This game has been in the oven for tool long not to hit my #1 spot. It feels like it's going to be insane.
2. Saros: Returnal still ranks in my Top 5 of all PS5 games.
3. Crimson Desert: Massive open world game that should give us what Dragons Dogma was supposed to. The wrestling in the game looks incredibly fun and the bosses seem interesting.
4. Nioh 3: Love the series
5. Phantom Blade: Every new bit of information reveals something new and it looks so over the top that I think the Combat is going to be a big hit.

Honorable Mentions:
6. Exodus: I've been following this for quite some time. I don't think it'll be a 2026 game but I'm a huge sucker for sci-fi so I'm keeping my fingers crossed
7. Control Resonant: I'm a bit sad that we're leaving the creepy building landscapes, but I trust Remedy. Probably a pre-order for me.

Streets of Rogue 2
Mouse P.I For Hire
Warhammer 40K: Boltgun 2
Police Stories 2
Warhammer Survivors
Full releases of Fallen Aces and Gloomwood

Romeo is a Dead Man is the only thing I am looking forward to in 2026 thus far.

Even though this isn't made by Suda51 I thought you might be interested in this game. Really looks like something he'd make. Apparently its being created by an ex-Capcom dev. Looks cool, there's some gameplay in the last thirty seconds or so.

No idea on release date, but I'm wanting Ace Combat 8 and the AAA GI Joe game. I'm not really aware of any big name games coming.

As weird it sounds unless Okami sequel make it into 2026 (wich i really doubt), there's literally no new big game i'm really waiting for, i'm legit just waiting next Season of Street Fighter 6 and -with much less hype- of City of the Wolves

The Duskbloods intrigues me but seems it's going to be Nintendo exclusive

I think i may/will give a chance to Crimson Desert

and Dawnwalker

and maybe Anananta? I mean will be free why not, will likely try some and see if it clicks

I don't rememeber anything else
I would probably be happy about Nioh 3 if i ever got into Nioh series i think, but simply did'nt happened

On big stuff side i'm more about announcements for 2026, if i can get

- SF6 next four characters (+ CotW)
- Astrobot sequel announcement? Level editor would hype me even more, but sequel is far more likely
- Trailer of rumored new Final Fight game
- Legit trailer of Okami sequel
- New Golden Axe trailer
- New Street of Rage trailer
- More about Virtua Fighter 6
