Monthly odd lifts competition

Two hand anyhow-50 lb db each, 100 lb total. Wilks=27.9

James lift-45 lb, just to try it out. Wilks=12.5

I did 40lb each @ 153 body weight on 2h anyhow for 27.39 wilks. I'll try more when I get more weight.

Klotz, did you stand for your James? It seems to me the standing is the hardest part of it by a great deal, so it should make a huge difference.

I stood but I almost lost balance with just the bar. Let's wait to see if other people find the standing part as tough.

You guys are crazy. I just tried a bent press and was struggling to do 65lbs (barbell)

Ive been working out for 5 years and have never heard of bent press, zercher lift, anyhows or any other crazy lifts mentioned in this thread.

Of course the first few years I was working out I thought you had to isolate body parts and only do 1 per day. I was working out like a bodybuilder.

Straddle deadlift
Kind of an advantage for us old guys, since our nuts hang quite close to the floor.

Two Hands Anyhow
Why the 10 pound differential restriction? It seems more interesting if people could use any weights they want. Saxon's world record wouldn't qualify since he did a 335 pound barbell and a 110 pound kettlebell.

James Lift
I guess that has to be a strict press? You can't be moving up or down in the squat position?

I just pulled it out of my ass, because I figure it's a lot easier to go pick up a heavy dumbell when you have a 5 lb pink DB above your head.

Yeah strict, although I imagine it's ok to wobble for balance.

Wow, is reaching down to pick up the other dumbell really that hard? I assumed one could put up more total weight in the two hand anyhow, than in a two hand press.

Well I didn't go above 50. But I lost balance once on the 50, it's kind of hard to keep it balanced, especially with crappy flexibility like mine.

You are having to press the first weight first, right? As in you'll have to windmill or overhead squat to bend down and pick up the second weight? Or are you just cleaning them one at a time and then pressing together?

No I OHP one, bend down with the weight still OHP'd, then do it with the other one.

This sounds like a lot of fun, I'm in.

Working on these odd lifts and actually trying to get good at them gives you something different to do at the gym, a break from the usual routine. Good idea :D

2 Hands anyhow is really fucking hard.

Sure is. Are you starting with your dominant hand or not? Does it matter? I would think to put my right (dominant hand, would be the heavier weight) up first, then then the left. Is anyone using slightly less weight with their non-dominant hand?

I've only tried dominant-non dominant. I have no answer to your other questions.

Its real easy to get like 100lbs up with one hand and 30lbs up with the other. My limit within 10 lbs was 50/50 today at the gym, though.

My new wilks is 34.24 for 2h anyhow. I'm gonna try 55/55 tomorrow.

Ok but you need to post in some other threads because I have never seen you before.
