Monthly odd lifts competition

That sounds fine to me. Our toes can be flared out in the heels together squat right?

I'll redo/update the front page tomorrow or Friday.

So how about

Bent Press
Heels Together Squat
Zercher Lift

Looks ok to me, i gave HTS a quick go and its harsh on the knees and hips. I think alot of people will struggle to get the flexibility.

I'd like to see OHS in there, but again alot of peeps will struggle with flexi issues.

How the fuck is a heels together squat possible? Anyone able to get decent depth without causing permanent groin damage? (if yaknowamsayin)

For the straddle deadlift, I could only do this one if I did like a lunge position. Every other way the bar swung too much, and freaked me out, making me think that I would twist weird and hurt myself... anyone else have this?

Straddle Deadlift: 225lbs wilks: 89.9669

So I have no score for the James lift, I'll try that tomorrow.

Blondie's Update (190lb):
2-hands-anyhow, 80lbs (2 40# dumbbells) wilks: 31.98
Straddle Deadlift, 225lbs, wilks: 89.97
James Lift, 0 wilks: 0 (trying tomorrow)

Three lift total: 305, wilks: 121.95

Raises hand.

I'm in my dorm room and don't have any weights, but I just tried this out by balancing my desk chair on my head with my hands and squatting. It doesn't weigh much, but it helps me keep my balance.

My hamstrings touch my calves both heels together toes together and heels together toes apart. I'm pretty flexible, but I didn't really feel any stretch either way.

If you keep your toes together, there's really no stretch at all, but it's harder to balance. Toes apart maybe work on your butterfly stretch?

Hmmm, maybe I'll try this out tomorrow. I may win by default by being the only person who can do these ('cause that's sure as hell the only way I have a chance of winning)!

Blondie, my new goal is to beat you. Maybe not this month, but as odd lifts go, you're just ahead of me. You have done them more, but nonetheless, I want to beat you.

Hmm Bale, my butterfly stretch is good, but I'd be paranoid to have to take a hand off the bar or something to keep balance.

I reccomend starting a new thread for each month, I can lock this one at the end of the month, obviously this one can run in parallel as there wasn't a full month for competition.

TGUs, one leg deadlifts, little finger only deads and my idea for getting chucked out of jmy gym the clap snatch all need to feature in the future.

Straight bar pressing rule????
Please do tell.. :icon_conf

See 'Project Lazarus' (my training log), basically striaght bar pressing involves my wrist being forced to maintain a certain orientation through the whole movement, whereas using dbs I can allow it to move to the most comfortable position. Thus, no straight bar pressing is allowed until I'm a lot closer to my old wrist mobility and strength.

.

Clap Snatch!!!!! Now i gotta see vids of that shit in a commercial gym!!!!

Can some one tell me what a TGU is...

Oh. Yeah those are good. I'll put in on the shortlist if people can't get the HTS.

Ok I finally tried the other two lifts. So here is my final tally.

Two Hand Anyhow, 130lbs, wilkes=37.99
James Lift, 100lbs, wilkes=27.93
Straddle Lift, 365lbs, wilkes=106.67

Total=595, wilkes=173.88

I was able to stand up with the James lift. One trick I used which might help others is a wider than normal press grip. I had pinkies on the rings.

With the straddle lift I had my left foot in front of the bar pointing forward, and my right foot behind the bar pointing to the right, parallel with the bar.

I also tried to better my 2 hand anyhow today with no success.

I updated the leaderboard. I'll give you another week to update your lifts if necessary. So far JPC is in the lead. Obviously the system is flawed because I came like rock bottom in everything and still got third. It will be more representative if people do all the lifts.

You know, I looked at your numbers, and then I scoped out your log. You and I really aren't that far away from each other.

To be honest with you, I've just tried these out this month, you can check my honesty in my log

That's the point. They're lifts that nobody does, so nobody has practise and nobody is that good at them at the beginning of the month.

Very nice, thank you. The leader board looks great, I like your excelling. :icon_chee

I second the "new thread for the new month" idea. The thread title can have the month name in it, so that we can find them easy when searching for them, so we can rename this one:

Monthly odd lifts competition: Jan 08

or something
