Multiplat Monster Hunter World

Game plays like bloodborne. Using sword/shield but haven't used shield yet.

Charge blade is as good as advertised. With my hatchets it would take 5-10 minutes to kill a great jangras, just destroyed one in 2 minutes

An axe with fire damage. Spin to win. I'm taking down jagras like I'm their pimp and they owe me money now haha
Dudes just can't get up anymore

Like @thefirstemporer said: it kind of helps being a Soulsborne veteran. It's not exactly the same, but some stuff does transfer skillwise (not saying I'm already good though, not by a longshot)

Also, it might seem strange, but I'm a pretty avid Street Fighter V casul. It seems even some fighting game mechanics have similarities with this game. Like punishing whiffs and such.

I'm almost thirty hours in and have only scratched the surface on three weapons. This game offers tremendous bang for your buck.

It's early, but MHW has GOTY written all over it for me.

I think I'm strictly going to wear full sets from now on. It might hurt me a bit with the skills and all, which might be better if you mix and match, but I wanna look like a badass. FashionSouls has always been the way for me haha

IMO the charge blade is one of the most OP weapons. I decided to pick it up on the last day of the beta and it carried me through the game so far! I kind of feel like the charge blade is unfair though tbh. It's such a strong weapon damage wise and it gets a shield, pretty broken.

Read up that the charge blade isn’t the best weapon for the anjanath due to the swings that leave you vulnerable to the one shot bullshit. Maybe I’ll try the dual blades again.

Longswords upward slashes are very good for Anja as well, cause they go pretty high. Since his head and tail are somewhat higher, it's sometimes hard to hit, but not with this baby :3

Fuck, I gave up on the damn anjanath fight early! I thought if I feinted the monster’s health reset. It saves your damage unless it goes to sleep and heals. Thinking too much like a Souls player.

Well I can tell you for certain I killed it very undergeared with the charge blade and would disagree.

One thing I would say about this game is that it's not about having "the best weapon for that mob" per say, but more about knowing your weapon as well as you can so you know where your hit windows are on a mob. There are of course slightly better and worse weapons for certain mobs but I think in general the most important thing is how well you know your weapon.

I say all that because the charge blade is probably the most flexible weapon in the game. Within charge blade you have sword and shield which moves fast while drawn and hits rapidly, can charge and you use it to charge your sword/shield. You can also draw directly into axe mode which is a "large weapon type" that moves slow and has big overhead chops you can use on a mob like anjanath if you want to hit tail/head in certain situations. The most powerful attacks and what really makes charge blade OP is the charged slam axe attack which definitely leaves you open to getting hit... but it also is highly likely to stagger the enemy. Also you know... shield!

All of that sounds great but it's really more about knowing where those things fit into each mobs hit windows. If you know longsword better, especially much better it doesn't help to switch weapons at all even if the kill time is half because it's all about efficiency.

I definitely don’t know the hit windows yet and definitely can’t take advantage, I rely on the lock on and it sucks ass in this game

Made the Horizon Zero Dawn Palico armor and have a little robot cat following me around. Big upgrade from my little Russian Cosmonot.

I just made it to the Coral area. Really cool. I have like 100 defense and I switched from Insect Glaive to Longsword because I found I couldn't damage things as fast.

Trying to get a full Anj set and then want to smite a Legiana.

Played this game for like 21 hours in 4 days lmao

Upgraded to a full Legiana set and I've been playing around with the Rathian sword. Still not having as much fun as I was with my hammer but it's growing on me.

Just got to the Rotten Vale and fought a Radobaan, another awesome fight. The monster design is amazing, The Radobaan looked like something straight from hell lol

I was fairly buzzed when I first went through Rotten Vale. Gonna have to go through it again lol.

Diablos tripple carted me and sent me packing. Was putting up a good fight, but fuck does he hit hard. Even with a weapon sharpness still in the green, attacks were still bounching off like crazy and leaving me wide open to get trampled. I think it's time to cash in some armor spheres and upgrade my armor since I'm pretty happy with my set bonuses and don't think I'll be changing for a while.

I played the shit out of Diablos in MH3U and he didn't have any new surprises, but I've just been getting cocky up to this point. Been using my poison Long Sword and staying in the pocket too long with Evasion Lv. 3 and dodging through most attacks. Diablos hit boxes are so damn big that it didn't work very well. Will swith back to Greatsword next crack and get back to Charge Attacks.

*edit*
Was checking some of the armor sets, and it looks like after my quests for Diablos and Rathalos I should open up the High Rank armor sets. Excite!!

I might but in the minority in this but I find the combat fairly easy. I rarely hae to use potions or anything and can defeat most things by dodging and attacking with the katana. Not very far tho was playing with a MH vet yesterday and he said the game doesn't really get started until you reach rank 11.

I've played 1 MH game before this (3 or 3U, don't remember it was a long ass time ago) and I find the combat decently hard. But then again, I did before as well.

Did he explain why at rank 11? I'm at 6 right now.

He said that's when the big hunts start. I did try the dagga whatever it's pretty hard to kill but I think its cuz I'm using the katana and it's kinda hard to use
