Multiplat Monster Hunter World

Diablos tripple carted me and sent me packing. Was putting up a good fight, but fuck does he hit hard. Even with a weapon sharpness still in the green, attacks were still bounching off like crazy and leaving me wide open to get trampled. I think it's time to cash in some armor spheres and upgrade my armor since I'm pretty happy with my set bonuses and don't think I'll be changing for a while.

I played the shit out of Diablos in MH3U and he didn't have any new surprises, but I've just been getting cocky up to this point. Been using my poison Long Sword and staying in the pocket too long with Evasion Lv. 3 and dodging through most attacks. Diablos hit boxes are so damn big that it didn't work very well. Will swith back to Greatsword next crack and get back to Charge Attacks.

*edit*
Was checking some of the armor sets, and it looks like after my quests for Diablos and Rathalos I should open up the High Rank armor sets. Excite!!

Beat Rathalos earlier, that was a hard fought battle felt like i was poisoned for 3/4 of the fight, the health booster item is a life saver.

It's constantly in the air as well. I find it hard to target the wings whilst using the hammer.

Still have Diablo to beat, didn't get to fight it on the 3DS as i stopped playing.

I might but in the minority in this but I find the combat fairly easy. I rarely hae to use potions or anything and can defeat most things by dodging and attacking with the katana. Not very far tho was playing with a MH vet yesterday and he said the game doesn't really get started until you reach rank 11.

The first hunt that gave me problems was the Obogaron in the Rotton Vale. His speed and trying to find the proper positoning after attakcs gave me a hard time. He never ko'd me, but got close a couple of times since he can inflict Bleed and the only way to stop it is to sheath your weapon, crouch, and stand still. Plus a good portion of the fight took place in the lower levels of the Vale where there is a constant damage effect due to spores in the air unless you have the proper gear to negate it, which I didn't bother with.

The Diablos tripple carted me again! I was so close this time. Broke his horn and sent him running a few times, but he can inflict dizzy on you pretty easy and combos from a dizzy attack into a bull charge which almost certainly going to get you carted. I forgot to upgrade my armor before the fight, and did it first thing after the fight and went from like 138 defense to 168, which is a pretty sizeable increase so hoping it's enough to keep me on my feet.

Party of 4 wailing on an anjanath for 23 minutes. It does it’s triple charge and feints everyone including the host for the 3rd time, ending the hunt. This monster is broken and I anticipate a nerf or at least shoring up the shit hitboxes on most of its attacks.

Ok getting better at the Anjanath. Basically you have to be all the way clear of it when it does it’s charge attack because it has a hitbox even behind it, so if you’re hitting the tail it will also fuck you.

Fully upgraded bone charge blade is sick. Weapon hits like a tank and it seems faster and also more durable. Farming bones now to make more weapons.

Anjanath was definitelly a hump clearing, but after you clear him the game will open up quite a bit. There was an obvious spike with Anj, but after that I went quite a few quests before any monster gave me any fits. Diablos is a thorn in my side right now, but I think next go round i'll get him. I haven't been taking my own advice and having patience. With the Greatsword charge attacks you get a chain of huge hitting attacks and I make bad decisions. It's nice pulling damge numbers of 250+, but it doesn't mean much if you get sent back to camp on a cart.

Any suggestions for a a newb starting off ?

Longsword is really balanced. Good combo of DPS, range, and mobility without any crazy mechanics to get used to.

Charge Blade is pretty OP, but you have to get used to the weapon switching and charging phials for power attacks. Great weapon, but it will take some time to get used to the mechanics if your new to the series.

Lance is safe, but I find pretty boring. You pretty much turtle up behind a shield and poke the monster to death.

I main the Greatsword along with the Long Sword for faster monsters. It has HUGE burst damage with no frills, just charge and unleash. The main drawback is it's slow and you really have to know the mechincs of the monsters to take advantage of full charges. It's all about timing and positioning, know where the mosnter will end up and have a charge waiting for him when he gets there.

At the end of the day though, all of the weapons are really balanced. Try a few of them out to see what feels the best to you and go with that.

Just had my first fight with Odogaron. Fuck that was fun. Felt like a Bloodborne boss.

Thankfully I've been getting a lot of practice in with the longsword and I was able to keep up with his attacks and continuously damaging/poisoning him.

Have to get used to the lock on mechanics too, I find myself swinging the big axe at air quite frequently

the lock on mechanic is the camera only, it doesn't lock on your attacks. it all hinges on your positioning and angle of attack.

that's why understanding the mechanics of each hunt is so important. you need to position yourself ahead of time and attack where the monster is going to be, especially when weapons that have big wind ups.

I’ve been playing this like Souls and that’s why I’ve been getting frustrated.

Got a Rathalos and Diablos down.

Diablos wasn't bad at all once I made the switch back to my hammer. Broke his horns off and the spin attack hits another weak point in his chest. That thing is awesome looking.

I might buy an XBOX One just for this game...

...plus Forza Horizon looks pretty good...

REALLY want a new Monster Hunter on iOS...

Just got to the Rotten Vale and fought a Radobaan, another awesome fight. The monster design is amazing, The Radobaan looked like something straight from hell lol

I had some serious 'nope' going on when I first saw that fucker. The Rotten Vale looks like something straight out of the Eclipse event in Berserk as well. Which helps with my Guts roleplaying lol

I love how old school this whole game feels: mics are 'on' by default in the lobbies, the whole sending out guild cards and random stickers and typed chat, the effortless drop in/drop out quests, none of this "BUY EXTRA SHIT WITH REAL MONEY CAUSE WE'RE THIRSTY WHORES" nonsense cluttering your menus (please, please stay this way).

I have no problem whatsoever with them selling some cosmetic costumes and shit down the line if we continue to get free content as a result. The same thing happened with Halo 5 and I was glad to shell out some extra cash for nice armor sets if it meant the community wasn't divided by those retarded season passes and scumbag EA pay to win tactics.

Pray to the hunter gods that Capcom truly realizes what an incredible gem they have here and doesn't muck it up like the rest of this industry. I understand developers/publishers have a business to run, but it felt way too sleezy the last couple of years.

Just beat it, i was the same it wasn't the most difficult fight, only had me in trouble on one occasion. Was still a long fight because it kept burrowing but i had it poisoned like 6-7 times, the poison hammer is awesome.I had much more trouble against Rathalos.

Rathalos was just annoying. The longsword made it easier to hit him while he was in the air but he has a huge HP tank from what I can tell and I wasn't able to keep him consistently poisoned.

Diablos KO'd me while I was using the longsword. My attacks kept bouncing off his horns and it just wasn't fitting my style of play. Made the switch to the hammer and he didn't really give me much trouble after that.

Just a heads up there are ways to get things out of the air. Keeping stocked on flash bugs and flashing them knocks them down and you can carry lots of flash bugs into a mission for reloads if you want.

There are lots of ways to gain advantages I highly recommend it. Some bosses later either feel miserable or like a breeze depending on item useage... I'm looking at you Teostra...

Are the Wyverns/Dragons/Wyrms/flying enemies all killable (outside of expeditions, of course) without knocking them out of the air though? For instance can I kill them like I did the Paloumo or whatever it was called.
