MMA vs SEAL, who will win??

Liddell. He already trashed some seals in a bar fight didnt he?

It's my understanding that the armed forces don't spend a lot of time on unarmed combat. It's just not that useful in military engagements.

pretty much

although lately there has been more grappling

There was an episode of Pros vs Joes a few years back. The contestants had to grapple with Randy Couture for 5 minutes and try to not get submitted. One of the contestants was a close quarters combat instructor for the US Military (can't remember er which branch, Marines perhaps). Randy Couture tapped him out 12 or 13 times in 5 minutes. That should be a good reference point.

MMA is basically a competition of cycling properly, weight cutting, point fighting, and scoring impotent takedowns to steal rounds. Sorry but none of that shit will get you very far in an actual fight to the death vs a trained killer

If it's some typical WWE style UFC event then the MMA sportfighter

In an actual irl streetfight the SEAL would literally murder the MMA sportfighter

No, they wouldn't. No matter how tough and well trained a SEAL is, they devote very little time over the course of a year to hand to hand combat, and most of that is aimed at how to quickly suppress unarmed foes. A mid tier MMA fighter would fuck up a military specialist handily in almost any situation not involving weapons. It makes a lot of sense when you consider how much more tie the MMA fighter devotes to that one particular form of combat.

Military guys have great awareness and obviously are great with guns but a common misconception is that all military guys are tough. If you are not special forces that you likely have had less than one week of hand to hand combat experience. My old Judo school used to go to the army base and teach them grappling and subs. Military guys are good students because they are used to taking instruction, but most military guys don't have great hand to hand skills.

Also why would Tim Kennedy ever train in MMA for years if he was already so deadly? Are people arguing that Seals know that balls and throat strikes hurt and MMA fighters don't because they can't use them?

Here's Ben Saunders teeing off on an ex-SEAL. The fight didn't go very long.

Jason Bourne whoops anyone.. MMA or SEAL, etc.. lol..:D

Well firstly TS' hypothetical doesn't make sense because you can't guarantee unarmed combat in a streetfight. In any case, MMA fighters are trained for sport, SEALS are trained for actual life/death combat.

Your guys' examples of MMA fights are entirely irrelevant considering the hypothetical is of a streetfight lol

It doesn't matter much. One guy is a specialist and the other took a few seminars in hand to hand combat. SEALs are tough, but so are MMA fighters. The SEAL gets his ass handed to him by an MMA fighter many more times than not in a one on one unarmed fight.

There's nothing wrong with it and nothing disrespectful to SEALs. Have them all fight with knives at night in the forest and see how well the MMA guys do.

You probably havn't even been outside 203 times.

Yeah okay that makes a lot of sense. How do you think I made the JV basketball team in HS (confirmed A-level athlete) if I never went outside to hoop it up?

Anyways you don't have to be outside to participate in a streetfight so I'm not even sure why you brought that up other than the fact that you're probably a goof

You're just gonna have to trust me on this one. I've fought both, and all I can say is that I'd rather take on 10 MMA sportfighters at once than a single SEAL in a streetfight.

I don't trust you at all on this one. I've seen Special Forces guys fight. They are better at it than the average Joe, but not nearly so good as they are at using firearms. Pretty much any guy who trains hand to hand combat full time is going to bust up a SEAL in hand to hand combat, and that's pretty much what happens anytime a Special Forces guy fights an MMA guy with the cameras rolling.

Hand to hand combat isn't a point of emphasis win Special Forces training. It is the only emphasis in MA training.

Just because you were the equipment manager doesn't mean you made the team.

And yes, you have to leave your house to get into street fights. Unless you are counting your parents beating you up for not doing your laundry of course. I generally don't count that though.

In the words of the late, great Tito Ortiz: Let me tell you how you feelin' right now

The only thing you've fought is a losing battle to Dementia.
