Movies MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - THE FINAL RECKONING (First Trailer)

Heard the studio wasn't satisfied with the boxoffice numbers of the last movie, so they wanted to hype up this sequel as 'the last of the series.'

Tom Cruise refused.... but they agreed on 'The Final Reckoning' as the sub-title, to imply it is.

Its a horrible sub-title either way.

I watched it in the theater. But, I understand why people would wait and simply watch on streaming.

After all, it was sold as Part 1 of a two part movie.

So, I assume many planned to watch the first one on streaming just before the second one hit theaters

Yeah, that was a piss-poor selling point.

"Come watch a movie that you'll know there's a cliffhanger that baits you into finding out what happens next... three years later!"

Um... no. I'll watch this one maybe before the next one comes out.

I can’t wait for Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning II!

I hope it's not the last. I'd love 8 more.

I don't mind the title but I think they should have dropped the 'the'. Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning sounds way better.

Also, it's a way to have a new title and also connect back to Dead Reckoning, since technically this is supposed to be Dead Reckoning Part 2. (They ditched that title because Part 1 didn't make as much as they wanted, so they decided to give it a fresh title in hopes it helps it do better)

Trailer looks good though. I know it's a tall ask but I hope this movie is on par with Ghost Protocol and Fallout.

I really wish they would bring back his team members from the earlier movies..... Maggie Q and Jonathan Rhys Meyers from III, and Paula Patton and Jeremy Rener from Ghost Protocol. Fold them into the existing team to make a big super team. Make it really feel like a true Mission Impossible (like the TV show).

Also, any bets on if Ilsa returns or not?

I enjoyed the last one so I hope next movie will be good too, kinda had the proper feeling of the first movies in the series back.

Wasn't so gaga for Rogue Nation and Fallout, they lacked something to make them feel real, well for MI standard at least.

When we got a Tom run in the trailer

I demand escalation in all movies. The must give more and be bigger and better.

So i need to know what Tom broke for us, this movie before i can rate it!

My only issues with these movies is they are all kind of forgettable now. MI3 was the last one that was truly great to me. They rest are still good movies but it's all just kind of the same shit now. Reminds me of the FF movies.

Ghost Protocal and Fallout are absolutely great movies. Rogue Nation is better than 3 too. I rewatched them all last year and I had a blast with it.

The most recent movie, was a step down for me. Maybe because it didn't conclude, I don't know exactly. I think the two part thing they did was a poor idea, I don't even remember what happened.

But I have noticed that I tend to enjoy these MI movies more on a second watch. If you haven't rewatched 4, 5, and 6 i think it's worth revisiting. I also had the same opinion and when I went back to them I really gained alot more appreciation for the series.

I'll be watching in IMAX. Love all of the MIs except for 2. Kinda bummed this is the last one but am excited to see Cruise do something fresh.

Oh come on, the F&F movies are almost literal spoofs now. The M:I movies at least still try to be serious, and overall seem like way higher caliber of films. Like they're actually trying to be quality action cinema, while F&F has devolved into being a joke of itself.

I thought Rogue Nation was pretty meh (a good movie in its own right, just a meh entry compared to some of the others), but I freaking LOVED Fallout. Ghost Protocol and Fallout for me are two of the best in the entire franchise (but M:I 1 is still my favorite of them all). Rogue Nation felt slower and less awesome than Ghost Protocol, and then Fallout seemed like it ramped back up to being awesome again, so RN got sandwiched between two all time great entries.

I actually started to do this with #1 but stopped and did something else. The main issue is that #2 is really bad. The last time I rewatched all the movies (only 1-3 was out and 4 was releasing soon) I just stopped #2 at the end and moved on. I'll probably do it before this new one comes to streaming.

It wasn't a comment about the quality of the movies. I do agree MI is a better series. It's more of the fact that it just all seems kind of the same in every movie. Like I can't even tell you what any of them are about after 3 but I know exactly what 1 and 3 were about (I can't stand # 2). It's similar to what FF does, "oh no a new guy wants to get revenge on Dom".
