Missing Khabib

No? He barely fought. His last 8 UFC fights took 6 years to complete. The majority of the anticipation was whether or not he'd make weight or pull out of a fight due to injury. He fought for the title against la quinta ranked like #14. He then had three legit fights against Conor, Justin and Dustin and dipped.

The UFC is hardly changed without him. What he left on the table is far more intriguing than what he did. So is his impact on the sport as a coach/representative of that region of the world.
Very dishonest post.

When he was healthy he fought frequently. The problem was the constant injuries in 2014-2016, the Tony fight constantly falling through(both their faults), opponents pulling out, opponents refusing to fight him, and the covid bs. Man had fucking terrible luck. Shit even before he joined the ufc he had contract issues that delayed his debut by a year. His run up to the title was very active and his run into the top 5 was very active.

Khabibs hardest challenges were always outside the cage. It's a real shame because it really ate away at the limited time he had in the sport.

I was pretty neutral on Khabib. Definitely recognize his talent, but he was certainly far from the most active fighter. Enjoyed his fights, but his retirement didn't have an impact on me.

It wasn't dishonest it was just intentionally negative. His first 5 fights happened in like 2.5 years, his last 8 took 6 years. Thems the facts. "Khabib when healthy" is almost as unicorn as motivated BJ Penn haha. As dominant and talented as he was (Jones, GSP and Khabib are my interchangeable top 3 picks for best fighters to ever walk in the octagon for any given fight) his time of significant impact was pretty limited compared to his class of fighter (all GOAT level shit).

But yes I like typing obtuse and negative comments about Khabib, this has never changed. We went back and forth about this back when my name was Doctor Stoppage hahaha.

The same folks who insist that they don’t miss Khabib are also the fans who create “fighter X is already greater than Khabib” threads after every card lol.

PS…How often Khabib’s name comes up (from both fans and haters) a full 3 years after his retirement is objective proof that he’s greatly missed.

well mma fans are retarded it’s equivalent of boxing fans saying Joe calzaghe is the goat of boxing as he never lost. boxing fans generally have perspective on the sport so nobody says that.
Or Rocky Marciano would ko any hw of the last 40 years as he has so tough and the hardest puncher who has ever lived

I mean. cmon. These guys never lost

The difference is calzaghe or Marciano aren’t brought up every frickin day on boxing forums, they’re mostly irrelevant in boxing discourse, sure they get brought up from time to time but they don’t loom over the conversation. The closest equivalent to Khabib in boxing is Floyd, who’s still talked about daily on boxing forums and his resume and legacy being debated and dissected incessantly. Just like Khabib it’s driven by a large group of fans who’re bitter they never got to see Floyd lose.

Lol if I recognized the name change I wouldn't have said nothing.

You right brother

Khabib couldn't get the top fights when he was ready for them and when he did he only had a few and retired. It's hard to miss what never was. His career was derailed because of the Conor circus, it's a shame.
