Missing Khabib

I don't miss his one title fight a year pacing in one of the most stacked divisions.
This is one of the most dishonest criticisms of Khabib there is imo, because the implication is that Khabib just doesn't wanna fight often. Not true.

April 2018 - Won the title
Oct 2018 - defended title

9 month suspension

Sept 2019 - defended title (soonest you can possibly ask him to defend)
April 2020 - scheduled to fight Tony - global pandemic FIGHT CANCELLED

July 2020 - father dies

Oct 2020 - defends and retires

When you look at the timeline, the inactivity in Khabib's title reign is mostly not Khabib's fault, if he had his druthers he would've been more active and if he stuck around his activity probably would've picked up. In fact, how many fighter's would've cancelled if their best friend, coach, mentor, and father died 2.5 months before a major title defense? Most fighters would've cancelled.

No it's not like he fought much to begin with. And people act like he was an exciting fighter, which he was not.

And we have Islam. They are similar, not same, but Islam is just as skilled. I don't think as big or strong though.
I think Islam and Volk are the dominant champions.
Islam does carry an unbeatable aura (IMHO) similar to Khabib. Similar not quite. Volk was able to stop some takedowns and actually had him in trouble in the fifth round. Khabib never even seemed challenged as a champion and I can understand missing that. At FW Volk isn't challenged at this point.

Khabib wouldn't even crack the top 50 these days. He'd be on DWCS.

I don't think Islam is as good as khabib. I don't think Volk would have beat up khabib or escaped like he did against islam. Volk is an absolute animal, but Khabibs wrestling was on a different level.

Is it just me or the UFC isn’t the same without Khabib? The aura that he had was something else. The anticipation of his fights, the domination, the hilarious commentary.. shit just isn’t the same. It was a dark day when he left the sport.
Not really and I wont kiss lebron either.

I miss BJ Penn and Kevin Garnett

I’ll always be curious as to how long he could’ve held on to the belt. A 35-0 Khabib with like 9 title defenses would’ve been a lock for GOAT status. But we’ll never know.

no one looked as unbeatable as Fedor for sure

Yes I very much miss him. He was one of the most dominant/scariest fighters ever, and one of the funniest for sure.

No? He barely fought. His last 8 UFC fights took 6 years to complete. The majority of the anticipation was whether or not he'd make weight or pull out of a fight due to injury. He fought for the title against la quinta ranked like #14. He then had three legit fights against Conor, Justin and Dustin and dipped.

The UFC is hardly changed without him. What he left on the table is far more intriguing than what he did. So is his impact on the sport as a coach/representative of that region of the world.

He should unretire and fight Volk. That would be the biggest supefight MMA can make today!

His entire career he was pulling out of fights and taking a long time between fights. It wasn’t just his time as champ.

Left earlier than I would’ve liked but there’s still 50 other reasons to watch without him.

Some idiots keep creating rankings just to exclude Khabib has one of the 3 goats. Of course, true fans miss Khabib, the man never lost a SINGLE round. Jones is more impressive, I agree, but the eagle is a legend, and fuck the haters.
