Sure, im not necessarily accusing the social media companies of doing anything they wouldn’t normally do.

I do think it’s suspicious if law enforcement have already shared the identity with private parties who they know will scrub their accounts before sharing the identity with the public.

And we know they do that because names have leaked before official identifications and we have seen their footprints disappear in real time before. So it’s not a matter of it just being a click of a button once they get official word the same time we all do.

Audrey Hale and I believe the New Orleans attacker. Their names leaked hours before the police announced it. And their accounts disappeared well before there was an official announcement.

Scrubbing the accounts doesn't mean the information is lost, so not sure what the concern is here. Even the public can probably find information from archives.

Accounts are removed because these types of crimes are particularly prone to copy cats. No need to give killers craving fame the reward they seek.

Yeah I didnt think Minnesota was a hotbed for this sort of thing, maybe a coincidence. Either way these shootings are hard to fathom, they're a rarity in my country, one bad one years ago resulted in gun laws banning fully and semi (I think) automatic weapons and very few disagreed with it. Either way fuck these mass shooters

Well if you want to blame mental illness but refuse to put in controls that would stop mentally ill people from obtaining guns....

It's a hard problem to solve because even if you put in checks and balances that would require mental health background checks to get guns, that all requires the mental health issues to be documented to work.

Perhaps sort of unrelated, but I wouldn't be surprised if vaping does have some pretty horrible consequences for people in the near future. We know the effects of cigarettes, because we've had 100 years of research to look into. There's only a very small sample size and few years since vaping has been popular. Who fucking knows what chemicals people are inhaling in their lungs and what effects they will have long-term.

Making a rule that trans people can't get guns is stupid. How many of mass shootings have been done by trans people? And when I say mass shootings, I mean these type of shootings where soft targets are chosen like schools and public places. The right want to latch onto the trans part because they enjoy hating on that group of people.

We all know if they try to implement a law that required a psychiatric evaluation to get certain/all guns that the right and 2A crowd would collectively lose their minds. I am a gun owner and shoot more often than most. I personally would be fine if I had to get some sort of advanced license to own my firearms. One that would require some sort of psychiatric evaluation and deeper background check. Part of that I have already done since I own NFA items.

As far as politics this person seemed to have been all over the place. You can't lay the violence of an individual at the feet of others. I think that is something we all know. We can say that everyone that performs such act of violence is crazy, but that's a pretty shallow take. So many people have mental health problems and never lash out like this. This act seemed planned and the individual seemed to hold CT or anti government views. They seemed to pick the target because of personal connection and impacts the attack would have.

Off-topic. Has anyone been in a school shooting? I have twice and it was in middle school and college. In middle school it was gang related and a girl sitting next to me was shot on her right hand.
In the college, it was some wacko that wasn't a student and ended up killing like five people with a AR-15 and the cops showed up, and smoked his ass.

I went to an alternative school because I got kicked out of my junior high. Our bus pulled up one morning and there was a kid outside shooting at a door. Apparently he held a gun to the principles head or some shit before that and everybody ran and hid in a building. Our driver skirted the fuck off fast as fuck.

If you had to guess, would you estimate that they're overrepresented, underrepresented, or proportionally represented among mass shooters? I don't know off the top of my head but my guess is they're probably underrepresented.

- In america? Overrepresented. In other contries. I dont think i even can name a trans person shooting schools. But i will be honest, i dont consider people that only crosplay as woman trans, for me trans is the person that will make the transiction
