That picture leaves me with more questions than answers, 3-9 scope, UTM bolt, a non monolithic knights hand guard, the 1911, those are PVS 9s, I think.. not 31s and the classic Blackhawk zip up vest. Which is what I wore way back when…

Rubber bands to bypass the web safety when you build a bad grip, which drawing from a vest like that id bet was common.

Man, I’d say that’s an old photo.. I really wonder what unit that was with.

Got it, that’s MSG Robert Horrigan died 2005 serving with Delta.

The 1911 design never considered thumbs forward with a high grip.

Even with slightly smaller hands, I failed to engage the grip safety a few times.

Most of us used electrical tape.

That’s real life?
There’s not a requirement to be engaged or something like that?

I’ll be 100% my first CIB was after multiple engagements determined not to be worthy enough for the badge. Those same engagements later would have certainly been CIBs, for everyone in the formation. I won’t say any details but I saw a unit have one vehicle engaged in a very long convoy, every pax in the convoy was awarded a CIB… this was during Syria ISIS ect so much later in GWOT.

I’m not a badge protector, I don’t care honestly, the military under awards its enlisted people left and right so any props is good with me. That being said, IF I was a rear passenger in a MRAP and got a CIB because 3 vehicles ahead of me there was an engagement and I did nothing.. I would be bullshittibg that story for the rest of life.
