Military Roll Call! Veterans, GTFIH!

Being a grunt is awesome the few moments you get to really do grunt shit

Nailed it. I joined the Marine Corps to do Marine Corps stuff

I respect all grunt based MOSes but if thats all you do for 4 to 8 years and then get out... What you gonna do as a civilian? I had a bunch of buddies that got out and ended up becoming bouncers, bar tenders, mall sercurity guards, strip club security etc etc.

Get a job bouncing and talk about how hard you were back in the "Old Corps". That's about it. Or spend 8 or 9 years banging chicks at community college until your GI Bill runs out.

US.S. Air Force, 3P051 (Security Forces), E4/ Senior Airman at time of discharge. If those of you aspiring to join the air force decide to do it, don't go security forces or open general.

Anyone stationed in Korea for the latter half of the 2000s? I was at Osan May 06-July 08 and Kunsan July08-Jan '10

Make your own career with the Post 9/11 GI Bill while being surrounded by 18-22 year old pussy for 3-4 years.

USAF, 2015-present. Currently an Airman, but I plan on going darkside to officer in the future. 3D0X3, Cyber Surety.

If that's your goal, then stick to it and make it happen. Get your CDCs done if you're still on them, then crack open the books.

Finished my CDCs months ago. Waiting for some AP credits to transfer over as I decide which CLEPs I need to do to satisfy what credits. Will apply my CCAF to a bachelor's degree hopefully sometime later this year.

Cool. Stay on it. I wish I had gone in with a good job instead of an open contract. If I could I would advise the younger me on so much I missed out on.

What AFSC are you? My job is good, but it does get boring.

I wish I had joined the Air Force instead. You get the same benefits, pay, and recognition. The women don't look like wookies either.

Yeah, a lot of goobers scoring way above their ability just because of the AF blues.

I was security forces, 3P0. The epitome of boring. Plus, anything below E5 in that field just gets crapped on.
I did a CAX (or Mojave Viper or whatever it's called now) in June 05 and some of our training was at March AFB. We got some libo and saw an Air Force security guy or MP sound asleep in his patrol car with all the windows rolled down and his M16A2 just sitting there in the backseat begging to be snatched.

Yeah, that shit happens, unfortunately. March is a Reserve base, which means it's even more undermanned than active duty bases, which means people on post alone. If that kid made it a full shift without getting put in cuffs, he was lucky.

They had a bunch of abandoned base housing close by that was made up to look like a village and even had a few hundred actual Iraqi civilians there as role players. I think it all got bulldozed over though.

man, I used to drive 20 mins to rammstein, and just instantly feel sorry for every Soldier/Marine I knew. The quality of life difference is astounding.

FFS they call them 'Dorms' not Barracks
